If you are a /beg/inner or /int/ermediate in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.
Use this thread instead of making new threads or post in the drawthread with fundamental exercises.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS wide using one of the following methods:
1. screenshot the image and post that instead
2. change camera capture settings to something smaller
3. send to computer and resize in MSPaint

TRY TO BE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK.
When giving feedback, avoid vague "advice" - point what's wrong and try to give the anon you're quoting a clear direction to improve their art (study heads < watch THIS VIDEO about head structure, read THIS SECTION of THIS ARTIST'S BOOK, etc).
You, feedback seeking anon, should also try to be clear and concise when asking for critique/help. When posting your artwork, say what you want help with, and what's your goal with the study/artwork.

Start drawing fun stuff now. You can do the meme basic shapes alongside you actually learning something useful. Fill a page of them as warm up before any regular drawing session, and you'll get that mileage parallel to some actual learning. You only have to "master" them to a point where you feel that you understand how they look in 3D. Also, like the other anon said, you can do both at the same time ... or even combine them, like draw a character inside an invisible box

I wonder if shit tier artists who make videos about the importance of mental health realize the absolute and utter damage they do to other artists. When I see a permabeg anime doodler say "just take a break, art isnt everything :)" it makes me want to draw for 18 hours a day until I have a nervous breakdown.

These people are either pro artists who want you to burn out, or just want you to actually draw. It's just such a potent motivator to practice that I refuse to believe it's actually a begtard telling me to take care of my mental health.

I'm a total beg and drew this from an old photo of me, and even though I feel really good, because I see improvement after years of telling myself I could never draw better, than children's scribbles, I see lots of mistakes like
>proportions are fucked, my head isn't that round
>it should actually be tilted, but looks straight
>the right eye is bigger than it should be
>looks pretty flat, shadows should have more contrast
>literally just gave up with the ear, seemed too complex to me
But all these I at least somewhat now how to improve and they'll get better with practice.
But what bugs me is I have absolutely no idea how to improve at convincingly drawing hair. Even after watching like 5 different youtube videos on drawing hair, I have absolutely no idea how to improve with them. I've even been trying to draw nothing but hair for several days just to try to understand what I do wrong, but I still have no idea. It just looks like a giant smear with some lines on top of it.
I feel like I should just focus on fundamentals, instead of hoping to pull the skill to draw photorealistic hair out of my ass and that's what I'm going to do.

I'm curiors about warmup and such. If you guys decide that on your way home, or wherever that you want to draw a bird or some other subject. You get to your supplies and how do you proceed. What's your process? Do you do warm up sketches first, or warm up exercises and if so which ones or do you just start? Do you do thumbnails of different compositions, or do you start sketching directly on the paper/canvas after a reference? Do you use multiple references?

I just draw. If I'm really rusty or/and idea less i might warm up with a tight spiral going as big as I can in one stroke, or some long straight lines from edge to edge up/down side/side, or some kind of repeating pattern. My tablet is always in front of me when I'm at the computer, so when "inspiration" strikes me i can just tab to my drawing program of choice and do what ever I need to do. I not good at utilizing thumbnails, and I dislike copying from references. But I do look up references to see how things work I want to figure out.
