Here's one I did recently. She uses her drill to drain people's brains into her dead super genius father's zombie brain in her helmet. Unfortunately, she herself isn't very bright. She mostly uses the stolen brain power to build LEGOs really fast and solve crossword puzzles, and all her supervillain crimes are based around those pursuits.

That is actually on purpose. She's meant to be the homely dumb girl of the story with no self-awareness. She gets shot near fatally within twelve pages by a hero frustrated by her retardation, and it's played as a joke because everyone thinks she's a loser. Next time you see her she's lost weight and doesn't drain brains anymore, but is still autistic and now very lonely after giving up being a villain. Most of the other girls in the story are drawn to be attractive, but I went out of my way to make her weird looking but still curvy because of how she eventually turns out.

As a general rule of thumb for fashion and character design, don't use more than a single pattern in an outfit until you know what you are doing to balance it out. Figure out if you want to emphasize the shirt or the coat. Right now, they're both competing for the viewer's attention.

I can offer some more constructive criticism later when I return from the gym.

Yeah the pattern is tedious looking and doesn't contribute anything to the rest of the design. Simple shapes, expressions, and gestures can tell you everything you need to know about a character without using any words at all. The details you put your focus into don't really tell me anything which is a common issue with lots of ocs not just yours. Just keep at it and have a strong intention when considering design decisions. Practice telling what you want me to know without a text box.

I can't do anything about colors because the gimmick is in her name; Rain(bow)a Chroma. I use a RBY palette for her outfit, but I can try to mitigate it. Instead of a random mishmash of shit, there's now a method to the madness.

Desaturate and lower the luminosity of the shirt (all of it), and remove the black/grey border seperating the two colors. For the jacket, swap to a red base with black "sine waves". Use a white border for the jacket's wave pattern to draw the viewer's eye towards it. Alternatively, you can use a slightly more saturated navy blue for the jackets sine waves instead of black.

I've seen times where anons deliver in the next thread, 130 hours is nothing. Besides in most of these threads 50% of the ocs only get 1 or 2 replies. Most of the time people don't draw unless someone draws for them first and then usually the guy who got a drawing will ask the other if they have an oc to return the favor. The people who get the most drawbacks are usually ones with cute characters or people who draw a lot for others first. You are entitled anon, but you might just be new.

Isn't that a little counter-intuitive, though? Instead of making this a thread where you just "draw for fun" like some claim, the idea is to draw to get something in return. Therefore, whether someone actually likes your character or not is irrelevant in the end.

I can see why that wasn't clear, especially with 3 seperate ideas for what it should look like on one "reference". On the current 'official' one I tried to show on the back side, it's got the two sides divided by a big spoon cut where the tail is supposed to rest between. I don't know if the actual thing is called a fauld or tassets but in his case for now it's just attached to the dark layer of his shirt essentially making it a long coat worn over the diamond pattern shirt. The 3 flaps are just extra stylized from front views to look more like wings, I probably could have made a note of that, or learned how to actually draw them flared out like that from a side angle.
Honestly the entire tasset section is a mess and the more I try to work with it the more it seems like it was something that only looked good in the initial drawing, starting to think I should just say fuck it it clips out of a perfectly sized hole because its a cartoon. Wondering if the short cut would undermine the 'regalness' (ty btw) and maybe it only looked good because that particular drawing had the wings out. Would appreciate any ideas or input anons have.

Because everyone has different goals. Some people just want to draw for others, some people want to draw coombait, some people want to draw characters that fit into their niche, some people want people to draw their characters, some people don't care about redraws but only want critique, some people just want to share lore. "Draw something to get something" isn't a guarantee and there are no rules about it, it's just an observation. I have drawn for characters many times before mostly because I enjoy making people happy with freebies so I'm speaking from past experience and like the other guy said it's not that complicated, relax and take it easy. If you were looking for critique a tip is to say beforehand you want help on a design and usually an anon or two will try to give an opinion, but it seems you already got some anons who tried to help you. Also if you have a character that no one wants to draw it doesn't always mean your design is shit, sometimes it's a matter of time as some anons would prefer drawing easy characters than difficult ones. Don't take it personally when people don't draw your oc.

It was just some weird thought process after listening too many songs of variety of genres and also obsessively looking for drawings on the Internet, which made me imagining about some guy with vague personality but definitely with a tired look, messy hair and having either red/blue on his clothing. He used to be an awkward 30 year old, and angry shota, a femboy, a rock star rebel in my mind.
I'm proud that I've finally figured out what he'll be. I just have to develope him a bit more.

You are right, anon. Kevin is extremely well designed. He's probably the best character in the entire thread (though I also like the redhead horse rider and the tomboy maid, among others!)
I have a few ideas why some pics get more replies than others.
1. Firstly, and most importantly, your OC needs to be at a certain "sweet spot". It can't look too realistic (Realism repels artists who can't draw anatomy). But it also can't be too cartoony/stylized because that makes it more dificult for others to draw them in their style.
2. (and I think this helped me especially) It's a big help if you're one of the first few posters. Your OC will simply be seen by more people.
3. A little bit of luck
You don't come here asking for redraws. Simple as that. People, for reasons unknown, choose the characters they feel like drawing.
For me, I was just happy to draw from imagination after a long period of reference copying. I really had a lot of fun drawing that warrior girl. I stood up way to long that night but I couldn't stop drawing. I felt like posting it. And yes, this time I got lucky. Several amazing artists redraw my character and I was blown away!
But some other times, you get no replies at all. It happens to all of us. Whats important is that you are grateful to the other artists. Someone took time out of their day to draw something for you and others to look at. That isn't self-evident. And you need to thank them for it.
I also thought about drawing Kevin. But the problem is: I could never do it justice. I'm way too shit at drawing and I have very little experience drawing out-of shape men. Most of my drawings are either fit or normal men, as well as stylized women. I think other ic-artists can relate.
