Theres a lot of people that feel the way you do due to ai and will probably be the inspiration to make a site where artists can congregate. Honestly with all the art sites being in flux, theres a huge opportunity to corner the art market.
Since artists are looking for a safe haven from ai, any site that can at the very least have artists first as their ethos will probably be able to get all the traffic from twitter, pixiv, DA, artstation, tumblr, ic, in one fell swoop

newgrounds is okay for just putting your stuff up, though im not really interested in getting tons of traction that site isn't great for anything not-nsfw since nsfw primarily gets all the attention and clicks

I think pixiv has its niche already cornered. It knows its entire philosophy is fueling competitive mindsets via contests and rankings. Cherry on top is its purely for anime so anyone who wants a competitive atmosphere with anime as a style goal is already focused on there.

But for the rest of us I totally agree. Everything is all fucked up and in limbo. Seriously the best thing right now is a complete detox of the artists social media grindset of likes first.

Simple forum style with various topics with a couple good competitions and a few pros and I guarantee it would skyrocket in popularity in under a year.

Feels like there's this mounting pressure where people want to post shit with no expectations except to be seen. The current algos push inexperienced folks out from getting the advice and viewings they want.

Yeah but that niche is being flooded with ai. And with the way companies like pixiv are handling it, shows that they dont have the artists best interest in mind. The artists are loyal for being on and sharing their work on a site for years, and when they ask for an iota of loyalty back during turbulent times, they get hosed. Interesting, I wasn't aware anime was that exposed to the influence of AI. I can't really see a way forward short of forums of web 1.0 sites. But who the fuck would start a forum nowadays with the amount of money needed to handle artstation levels of traffic.

Who cares about that daily thing? Follow artists, put the work you like in your favorites and get recommendations. Use hashtags and followers will come pretty quickly (if your drawings are somewhat interesting).

I don't get what you are looking for. You cry about forum culture and then seethe because you can't be popular "because of algos". Forum culture was about sharing with like-minded people, not becoming popular. It seems to me you're only looking for excuses.
If you want to be popular you have to use multiple social media and websites. Post on Twitter, DA, Pixiv, Artstation, Newgrounds, Tumblr and Reddit. Or whatever.
If you want to have genuine conversations on a niche interest then yeah, now isn't the best time anymore.

I don't post on art sites but I post art that specific groups would like depending on subject matter. I also have a wordpress and my own website. Twitter is used just to give people updates about my art.

If you want to be taken seriously and look legit, just get:

1. your own website with your sketches and portfolio on it
2. get a twitter for updates
3. wordpress if you want more traffic, but this is optional

I think a Kickstarter to fund a human only forum/platform with support from high profile and industry artists would do well.
Keep ai out would be part of the sign up process, verify you are a human artist, draw this using oekaki tool? Though grad artists would need a way in too... Idk.

Honestly I wish I could just find something that you can just redeploy like a Wix site templates but self host yourself.
