How much has the avatar drawing style (both Aang's and Korra's series) influenced the artists?

And some animated productions...

>> No.6425961

A lot? Korean animation like this is everywhere and even normalfags on twitter can point it out.
The choreography from TLA not at all sadly..

>> No.6425973

Thanks to Korea this is basically as close to a westernized anime style the west can get.

The style itself is really good and asthetically pleasing. Especially when you're someone who doesn't like the over-the-top japanese styles with huge eyes and weird expressions.
TLOK suffered when it comes to storytelling, script, dialogues, character development..

You can tell that TLA was a kids-show made by mentally mature people. Whereas
TLOK was made for young adults by people who are stuck at a mental age of 13.

Unfortunately, westernized anime styles are inseparable from severe mental illness

I don't remember Korra because that show was shit and didn't finish watching it, but Avatar had quite a bit of that.
I don't really like overly anime stuff but I found Avatar's style to be jarring sometimes. That said, the animation was well done and had some scenes where I thought 'wow, the animators did a really good fucking job'

Eeeeeh I prefer something like pic related and other internet/indie gaming confined artists when it comes to "westernized anime". Studio Mir's art style is kind of boring, safe and lacks fine detail, but I can't blame it considering it's literally made for animation.

I've always wondered... Doesn't the drawing style of Aang and Korra's series (Not to say the Studio Mir as is) take inspiration from anime like FLCL, Abenobashi mahou shoutengai and some Gainax works from the 90s?

Kim Jung-Un would love to do that but the "developed" world would probably have issues with that... Give it time, all of the major brands will move to the US, South Korea, and Taiwan, then China will just take over, they've already set foot in Hokaido.

>> No.6432303

No, ATLA 100% had LOTS of anime tropes with its animation (in terms of expressions, sweat beads, the specific kinds of exaggerated movements, etc). I rewatched it when it came to netflix so fairly recently and they were all over the place. It was very much "I grew up on 90s anime like Sailor Moon and Pokemon"

>> No.6432416

>>6432303

More than sailor moon and pokemon, I would say that his take more inspiration from FLCL and Abenobashi mahou shoutengai when it comes to gestures and expressions.
