One thing about western cartooning is that there's a diversity of art styles, I love Bruce Timm, Shane Glines, John K. and that whole tradition that goes back to the early days of American animation & comics.
Also looking through Kim Jung Gi's sketchbooks, he uses a diversity of styles and in interviews he said he avoided the pressure to draw in an anime style.
In the future developing individualistic styles will be more important.

no, the anime style was so easy to replicate that an AI, in it's early stages, can replicate what you people can make almost identically
lets also not forget the fact that you people saturated the market with your low effort anime posting which is simply fed to an AI to improve it even more
this is why people keep telling you to stop drawing anime, it's one of the lowest and cringiest levels of artforms in existence
it's like what fanfiction is to writers or mobile games is to competitive games

The ease of anime is a red herring. It’s not that it was easy to replicate, it’s that it is in such high volume, especially with how autistically tagged it was on danbooru, makes it perfect for the ai to train on. Same goes to your typical concept art slop you’ll find in abundance on art station. It’s well tagged and in huge amounts.

The more unique the art style, naturally the less of it there is to train ai on. Not saying it won’t be able to match a close approximation on a small amount of training data, but it won’t be achieving near perfect results like anime because it won’t have all that autistically tagged data in abundance. You can see this in a lot of the trained ai on smaller artists - it will look similar but it’s not near functionally useable like concept art style or anime style bots are.

That would require a metric asston of labor on one artist’s part to achieve a library large enough to train an ai to the same degree of usability as the danbooru ai. Either that or a fuck ton of other artist copying your style and then mass producing enough of that style of art for it to be used as training data but at that point of popularity, you’d probably be well off enough not to be affected by it.

There's also the fact that anime art generally uses figures which are relatively close to real human anatomy/proportions, and observant of real perspective, with enough leeway to make some fuckups not immediately jarring, so all taken together it is relatively easy to take a photo of a person and apply an anime style to it.

People hated the model creator and called him "disrespectful", but its blatant crust and inability to even replicate 5% of his skill truly shows how great the man was.

The model creator did not use the man's death to elevate himself, but to draw attention to how an inimitable legend had passed.

cmon, is this really the image you are giving me to prove that AI cannot easily replicate this simplistic style? there is a plethora of actually good anime artwork created with great skill and you give me this random floating anime girl in one of the most generic, copy-pasted posted poses imaginable, with the most unappealing and incongruent background you can choose?

also, while we are at it, why do most of these anime images not have any story attached to them?
it's just some floating anime school girl with a sword, and don't tell me "that's the story!!!" because it's not
that's acting like a toilet seat in a modern art museum has implicit meaning, it does not
your floating anime girl is not a story
>pic related
THAT is a story
pic related, despite being anime, is actually interesting because it's not just muh floating animu grill with unnecessary details that don't mean anything
the image is saying something and implying something that makes sense, i don't have to force meaning out of the image

anyway, i do find it amusing that you have "look at an image before you can like it" because it proves that all along you've been filling up your feed with moe-blob garbage with no meaning
i don't have to do that, if i see a floating anime girl, i immediately scroll past, i've seen thousands of them before and i'm quite tired of them honestly
it's going to take years before the ai is going to be able to replicate pic related
not because it can't replicate the style but because it can't replicate a story

Not him, but I'd argue it implies a story much better than the floating anime girl. She's pointing a gun at something out of the frame. Who or what could that be? What is the guy in the background shouting at her? There are empty bullet shells on the ground an someone was wounded, so the fight has already started... etc. The dynamic angle is just the spice on top.
Sure, you could come up with something like this for the other picture as well, but the implications are much weaker. It's just a girl in a dynamic pose, there is no clear indication why she would randomly swing her sword around like that, why she is wearing those clothes... I'm not saying it's a "lesser" picture, but it's much lighter on storytelling for sure.

I don't know when but artists move from "AI art has no soul" to "AI art steals human drawings", I believe it's after they failed the blind test

You can't deny the act of generating AI art is utterly soulless. The fact that it's trained on a dataset of many images, some of them soulful, means that once in a blue moon you might get something that actually looks nice. But that's exclusively because of the training data. Every part of the AI generation that comes after the initial dataset, is utterly soulless.
