Thanks bro. I think Frazetta is ok but do understand his significance for that time period. I don't personally like him as a person because he used to lie that he didnt use reference but there's an entire Muddy Colors article dedicated to how he DID use himself and his wife as models since they were in good shape, kind of how Vallejo did this too.

Great list though bro, gonna look on Libgen for some of this stuff. I appreciate this more than you can believe as I am ready to put the time in to really push my skills.

This will help a ton too since I plan on checking out a taught course in my area for figure drawing April onward after the winters over so I can drive there more consistently.

Can any of you scann the book if possible. I think that having the chance to check the content of a book before you buy it (as que used to be able to do ina real brick and mortar Book Store) is essential for us not having disapointing experiences like the Anon in the first of this linked posters discribes.

Having access to a scanned version of the book would mean other people wouldn't need to go through the same disapointment you just went through in the near future. And even with the scann of Color & Light that's available online many people (yourselves included) would still buy th real book.

I have bought my fair share of books that have been around on the intert for ages like James Gurney's Color & Light. Hell I'm waiting for amazon to deliver the 6 book collection from Bridgman as we speak. So it doesn't hurt the publisher if the book is good material, only if it's shitty and people can steer away from it.

You can learn anatomy in med school, but you still won't be able to draw it well. Figure drawing is learning to draw the figure. Learning anatomy is purelly informational knowledge. It does help you understand what you are trying to represent, or when drawing from imagination to know where to position things, but it isn't drawing information. Most pepole say you should start with figure drawing, when you feel confortable with it but you feel you are being held back by not knowing the specifics of the muscles and body parts, then you go to anatomy.

Full transparency: When i previously uploaded (to a different hosting site) some anons said it scanned positive for viruses. I genuinely don't think there are viruses in these files (its a bunch of pdf and cbz) but who knows. I've had these files for about two years now and i got them from various torrents and mega links. everything else is requires someone else who is better at drawing than you to go through the book with you to teach you what is garbage information, what to ignore, etc.

one case in particular, Marshall Vandruff mentioned that the How to Draw book by Scott Robertson is really great in the first half but absolutely garbage in the second half
stuff like this is a common occurrence with artbooks so if you're an actual lbeginner, I'd say ignore everything else and stick with this guy's books until you know a little more about drawing to be able to filter out the garbage from other books

As somebody who owns a signed copy, this is one of the few top tier art books worth getting. It actually goes into detail about recreating the style they created for the movie so it’s more than just a collection of finished paintings and renders. I’m sure it’ll be scanned eventually, but definitely something worth grabbing in case it gets rare in my opinion. About my only gripe is that Diane barely has any art in the book compared to the other characters, and there aren’t a lot of shorthand sketches of their final designs. Still, probably the best artbook I own.

Yeah, that was my bad. Like I said above, it never crossed my mind that it would go out of print. Dreamworks practically never lets that happen unless the movie bombs, which Bad Guys definitely did not. I do remember there was some drama with the initial release and the gallery I ordered mine from had to stop the livestream event. It’s listed as “out of print,” so that’s kinda bizarre.

Either way, I’d say 80-100 bucks would be worth it if you see it go up for anywhere around there. It would still suck if they went back into print eventually, but it’d suck worse if you saw it for that price and they never went back into print for whatever reason.

Hello frens, I come here today to share a script I worked on to automate the machine translation of books for the community. I tried to make it as retard-proof as I possibly could so that even the most intellectually challenged of us could use it with no issues.

The instructions are on the gcolab page, but just to be sure I'll list here the steps involved:
>obtain the book you want to translate
>compress it as a zip of images (no folder)
>upload that zip to your gdrive
>read the instructions carefully and run the script
>optional: upscale the images, makes the book much heavier but better quality
>optional: you can translate more than one book if you use various accounts
>obs: "disconnect and delete runtime" to run the script again after you finish translating a book
>obs: I recommend using sumatrapdf on windows for reading books
