If you are a /beg/inner or /int/ermediate in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.
Use this thread instead of making new threads or post in the drawthread with fundamental exercises.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS wide using one of the following methods:
1. screenshot the image and post that instead
2. change camera capture settings to something smaller
3. send to computer and resize in MSPaint

TRY TO BE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK.
When giving feedback, avoid vague "advice" - point what's wrong and try to give the anon you're quoting a clear direction to improve their art (study heads < watch THIS VIDEO about head structure, read THIS SECTION of THIS ARTIST'S BOOK, etc).
You, feedback seeking anon, should also try to be clear and concise when asking for critique/help. When posting your artwork, say what you want help with, and what's your goal with the study/artwork.

I'm still doing drawabox. After lesson 1 there's the 250 BC which I finished, then obviously it gets more complicated from there so I take it slower. I'm chewing through lesson 3 and getting ready for another challenge run along with Loomis' figure drawing book. I started with 0 still (we all do) and did not enjoy drawing at all and therefore couldn't improve at all. Getting through even just L1/250BC from Drawabox forced my brain to consider perspective and forced my hand to make clean lines, Loomis' cartoons and simple constructions granted more imagination so now drawing is an actual hobby and not a daunting thing. Personally going to move on from a Loomis' stuff and when I feel good either start trying to learn from a Scott Robertson book or CGMA dynamic drawing course, idk.

Before I started to look at the images I was drawing I'd often be very inaccurate and so looking at the images when drawing has helped a lot but I'm still quite inaccurate at times i.e line on the left ends up at the wrong length compared to the right, shape is too elongated, etc

What your showing me in pic rel isnt stickmen tho. So you had a decent (although very rough and basic) understanding of the female anatomy, and i feel like all you've improved on is the face, hair and shading. You got a little better with the torso but not to a degree where i would flex my 1 year progress.

Dont get me wrong im not trying to disregard the hard work and grinding, im just saying that you should lower your expectations for improvement. I think you'll master anatomy in 3-4 years, and become pro im 4-5. Same with me if i keep practicing at the rate i do (2 sketchbook pages a day of reference studying) ill be pro in maybe 3-4 years hopefully.

It all depends on how much you grind and how much your brain and comprehend/memorize muscles and where certain things go at this particular angle. All art is about is memorizing and observing, and time.

same, i'm getting mindbroken by drawing. i try to do some exercises to help out my observation, accuracy, and hand eye coordination because those are things i'm lacking in and want to improve, but i find them difficult to get it really accurate so i do them for a short time and try to draw for fun. i start drawing for fun and the very first line i draw looks like i have parkinsons despite drawing it from the shoulder, then i try to correct it by drawing over it and the second line ends up even worse somehow, all i feel are shockwaves of emotion course through every fiber of my being and my limbs are enraptured by a subconscious, primal desire to stand up, throw myself through the window, and sprint on all four limbs like an animal towards the nearest freeway. i've done a lot of things in life where i failed trying to learn something, but this is the first that relies on fine motor control and hand eye coordination so maybe that's why this is so much of a different kind of pain. i see the line i need to draw in the reference, i visualize myself drawing it and it makes sense in my head, do the ghosting technique where i trace it out, but when i go to put my pencil onto paper and draw, the angle is off. i erase and try again and end up picking another wrong trajectory. i've never broken down sobbing so many times in my life than in the past 2 months with trying to draw, i truly feel powerless i just want to draw a straight fucking line please god have mercy on me just let me draw one at the right angle and length

No one gave me critique last thread so I'm reuploading. What I tried to do is prove to myself that I can draw a face at any angle at a 9/10 quality without a ref if I really tried. I used my problem solving skills, knowledge of perspective and Loomis in order to draw this as well as using the eraser multiple times.
In the meantime I have decided to pursue animation rather than manga because I believe animation is the shortcut to improving.

Oh cool yeah thanks, yeah I plan to use a reference from now on. I thought about it for awhile and realized there's literally no reason for me not to use reference. That's partly why I chose to study animation, because it forces me to consider each of my drawings a project as a whole rather than practice and will take my works to the next level.
The reason I wanted critique was because I was just extra proud of my 3/4 face here. Look at it, the left eye (right side) incorporates perspective hence the curve on the upper eyelid at that angle. It took me awhile to figure out but made me approach drawing in a problem solving way.
I consider this face a 9/10, would be a 10/10 if I fixed the face and hair. I also wanted to know how to make the top face up to this level.

A pointless macguffin. Art for money has always been an abusive relationship at best and a delusional pipe dream at worst. Drawing and rendering is still a skill worth many hours of mastery, and the same rule of "lol but who cares, the computer/some other guy does it better" applies to everything so if you're applying that logic to AI art logically it should apply to the rest of your life and you shouldn't get out of bed. But you did. Why? Because AI art doesn't take skill out of hands, it just humbles the retards tracing anime art in krita because before AI art, they WERE "AI art." Shit changes nothing, basically the same logic as "you made dinner? you know uhhh mcdolan's exists??"
