>artstyle can't be copyrighted
You guys are missing the elephant in the room here.
Yes, artstyle may not be copyrighted, but designs such as names, logos and characters are without any questions protected by copyright laws.
When I type in "Mickey Mouse" into the program and it spits out an image with characters resembling Mickey Mouse™, there is no doubt that the intellectual property of The Walt Disney Company™ is used during the training of the AI model.
Contrary to popular belief, the art industry does have big corpo that are protective about their copyright, we just need to get companies like Nintendo and Disney to stand on our side.
>hurr durr, they want to replace you with AI too
If they want to do so, they would want to seize the models which produce images of their IPs, instead of letting any basement dweller use the shit.

Oh, you poor little snowflake. You think you're so smart, talking about copyright laws and big corpo. But let me tell you, you're just a pawn in The Game. You're just a pawn, being played by the real players, the ones who know how to manipulate the system and get what they want.

And what do you want? You want to protect the intellectual property of Mickey Mouse and Disney, huh? Well, let me tell you something. Mickey Mouse is already dead, drowned in a sea of knock-offs and parodies. Disney is already dead, eaten alive by the same greedy corporations that you're trying to defend.

So go ahead, keep playing your little game of copyright and intellectual property. Keep pretending that you matter, that you have any power. But in the end, you're just a pawn, a pawn in The Game. And The Game will always win

>What Does Content Scraping Mean?

>Content scraping is an illegal way of stealing original content from a legitimate website and posting the stolen content to another site without the knowledge or permission of the content's owner. Content scrapers often attempt to pass off stolen content as their own, and fail to provide attribution to the content’s owners.

>Content scraping can be accomplished via manual copy and paste, or may use more sophisticated techniques, such as using special software, HTTP programming or HTML or DOM parsers.

>Much of the content that falls prey to scraping is copyrighted material; reposting it without the copyright owner’s permission is a punishable offense. However, scraper sites are hosted all over the world, and scrapers who are asked to remove copyrighted content may just switch the domains or disappear.

not that anon but i'm trying to formulate an argument to refute this point
ok, so if a human looks at my work and uses it for inspiration and reference, that's not too unlike a computer, right? isn't that what you're saying? and i get where you're coming from.
except that a human has to decide if it's worth the effort and/or if the quality of my work is worth referencing in their work. also, current U.S. copyright laws afford certain protections (like photobashing my work and selling it)
AI models 1.) expend zero effort 2.) will incorporate/steal my work even if it's low quality because it's used for training and you don't want to ONLY feed it high quality art, and that's subjective anyways
we should at least try to find a way to agree that it's not a fair comparison and work from there

i suppose what it boils down to is the data. do i own the pixels/bits that are arranged in that very specific way? because i believe that i do. and looking at an image as reference is not the same as having a bit-by-bit copy of my data in your AI model. even people with photographic memories would be hard-pressed to copy a work of pixel art pixel-by-pixel perfectly.

There’s a very simple solution you can do right now.
Paywall your art and only post cropped, low res, watermarked examples to social media. If an ai nigger wants access to your image charge them for it.

They’re obviously swimming in nft/crypto cash so they can easily afford the $10,000 fee.

AI faggots coping so fucking hard in this thread. AI isn't going to be regulated because of artists btw, its going to be regulated because the USA and every other country views deepfake content as a national security threat.
Like just imagine this for a second. You put a few keywords into the AI and it spits out a video of the CEO of microsoft talking about all your accomplishments as a lead developer and product manager. You send this recommendation and a bunch of deepfaked resumes and references to FAANG and manage to bullshit your way to a six figure career. And no one can call you out on your bullshit because the videos are indistinguishable from a real one.
Imagine all the scammers that are going to deepfuck your grandma into debt now that they can pretend to be you by making a video of how your stranded in Ohio cuz all they need is your facebook photo and her number. Imagine Russia deepfaking Joe Biden, some idiot slips up, and Russia now has USAs nuclear codes.
