I draw WEEBtroons for a living, and I have a patreon that brings in a few hundreds per month.
It isn't enough for a 1st worlder to live from art, but it's enough for a turd worlder like me, now it's your turn, how do you make money from your art?

I forgot to say why I created this thread:

Webtoons will demonetize indie artists next year, so I'm looking for new ways to make money from art.

Tip: If you wanna make money from this garbage website, just draw faggot anime romance aimed at young women, they read any garbage with two twinks making out in the cover

Not even Webtoon Original creators make a ton from their work, some make way more than the others. Originals creators seem to make more off Patreon, so I'd concentrate on getting your money there or Kofi
I wouldn't worry about Tapas, Globalcomics, all the other off shoot comic sites, they all have their "preferred" genres and favorites.
I make money from making merch from my fanart. Draw up some cute shit once, reuse that design 10 different ways, get it manufactured in China, then profit

>Not even Webtoon Original creators make a ton from their work, some make way more than the others. Originals creators seem to make more off Patreon, so I'd concentrate on getting your money there

I know, I'm a canvas creator, but making it to original is almost impossible nowadays, the platform is too saturated, I'll try to get more patreons then, thanks.

>I wouldn't worry about Tapas, Globalcomics, all the other off shoot comic sites

I don't even bother with then, except the pink webtoon chinese knockoff, that one is good for money making, and getting an audience, it isn't good to get new patreons tho, the audience is too young.

>I make money from making merch from my fanart. Draw up some cute shit once, reuse that design 10 different ways, get it manufactured in China, then profit

>Based

I remember seeing something similar to that somewhere on DA a few months, years ago, thanks for the tips.

Seriously look into making merch, I've made about $1000 in the past week because everyone wants Christmas shit now.
Also consider streaming on Twitch. You can get money from subs and more readers. Really depends on what you have the mental and physical bandwidth for though, TikTok has a big art following (people love quick speedpaints and tutorials)

I don't need to make money from art. I'm set for life and have retired at an early age. Art is just a hobby for me. I probably could make good money from it if I wanted but I don't even have a social media where I upload it.

Isn't it better picarto?

Not really but I could tell you what I did, my line of work and my investments. Advice you to be aware of opportunities to increase your odds of success. That old saying about failing faster so you can try again and all that.

But at the end of the day there are plenty of smart people trying all those things to get ahead so what it comes down to at the end is luck. All you can do on your own is to increase the odds of being lucky.

gonna use your thread to ask something similar, as an Illustrator for children's books, what should be the best way to self-publish a small book? what should O prepare in advance beyond the kind of materials I want to use, story, and all the other physical need the book may need?

I want to create a webtoon in the future.
Any advice about the platform, community, and art process?
The only thing I know about webtoon is that they pay like shit and that their webtoon-original artists are always crunching lol.
The bar for acceptable art seems to be in hell as well, but understandable since they release a full chapter every week.
Do you post weekly or atleast on a constant basis?
I don't think I'll make a living off of my art anytime soon but a man can dream.

>>6407562
I guess that answers some of my questions.
>If you wanna make money from this garbage website, just draw faggot anime romance aimed at young women
Damn. Even as a canvas creator you have to pander for an audience?
Do you pander to these people with your own webcomic?
What other options even are there for webcomics?
I feel like Tapas can't really compare to webtoon's audience size.
Is the age of webcomics already over?
Is it too late to create an original webcomic?

>> No.6409808

>except the pink webtoon chinese knockoff, that one is good for money making

I meant this one:

It isn't pink anymore, now the default website is yellow for some reason lol.

I make a few extra hundred dollars from them, alongside green webtoon (LINE) and patreon.

>Damn. Even as a canvas creator you have to pander for an audience?

You have to pander to the audience if you want to make money from your art, and that's specially true as a canvas creator (more creators, competition and less readers)

I hate this, but it's the truth, coomsoomers don't care about creativity, or being unique.

They don't want new, unique burguers, they only want McDonalds all the time.

>Do you pander to these people with your own webcomic?

Yes...

>What other options even are there for webcomics?

If you're a westerner like me, you're screwed.

>I feel like Tapas can't really compare to webtoon's audience size.

I don't bother with them, and Globalcomix.

Only WebcomicsApp, and Lezhin are good, and can make money like Line Webtoons.

>Is the age of webcomics already over?

In the west? webtoons became a thing here in 2014, but I feel like its era is close to being over.

Some big name western webtoon original creators already parted ways with Line, and now they're demonetizing the canvas artists in 2023.

>Is it too late to create an original webcomic?

As a Hobby? No.

As a career? Probably.

Don't give up tho, things are bad for western webtoon artists, but you still can make it in this field, it's just way harder now.

Good luck!

No one uses Picarto except other artists. Artists are pretty crabby, they don't watch other artists. Twitch is better because you have a better variety of viewers who might randomly stumble in. Drawing cute girls? Then you'll probably get some non-artist in there who wants to watch. Don't waste your time appealing to other artists unless you're trying to sell them something (brushes, assets, etc)

>>6408311

If they don’t know you’re a westerner on WEBTOON why would it matter if you draw in the style of the site? Do the people running the site have it out against westerners?
