If anything it will only make people crave real art even more, like how drinking ocean water makes you more thirsty, or how the cotton gin increased demand for slaves rather than putting them out of work.

So forget AI, forget what Drawing is, cause like I said earlier you don't understand neither. Look up how Trends work and why Art Styles tend to change every 4 years, and why there's a dramatic shift every generation on how art is created and why designs shift so heavily. This will require you do some some basic research, so hopefully the education system hasn't failed you in understanding how to do that. I tried to talk about this in another thread, about how art programs would react to AI and that they would probably incorporate it in newer versions, but you all refused to talk about it. Ignoring a problem won’t make it magically go way.

Anyway, now that you were forced to see it, I think that it’s lame to do simply add an image generator to a fucking art program… First, you can probably do better with custom merged models, second, it’s a program made for artists, that’s really insulting.

Like I said, I was sure they would implement some AI feature, but I thought it would be in a more artistic directed way, like some smarter, customizable and more efficient img2img filter, simply polishing your art a little. An even smarter bucket tool, auto detect depth for depth of field effect, etc.

That was my post. I'm against it and favor protections but these are some very powerful, amoral, masters-of-the-universe types who not only pull the strings of the political/legal system but got a great big head start in normalizing their misdeeds with the masses (they know public opinion still matters, else why all the censorship on social media, for example?).
Clearly, these smaller players (CSP and Deviant among others) see AI's copyright laundering as a fait accompli, so much so that they're willing to endure a massive backlash from their customers, because they believe the backlash will be temporary and most of their users won't follow through on threats to stop using their products.
When AI image generation — trained on private, confidential, copyrighted and illegal images — becomes a built-in feature of every device, app and OS (with massive profits flowing to the corpos), good luck getting the masses to care about infringement of artists' copyright, because that would mean they might lose one of their toys. if i could burn a mental image directly onto paper, in the medium/media i choose, with no drawbacks whatsoever, i would do it. i'd probably still draw though, because some things can only be created this way.
the way machine learning works though, is not like that at all. the poles here are generic <--> shit looking.
people who want specific original images of specific poses/people/perspectives/backgrounds/light situations at the same time will not be able to generate them to their satisfaction, because the "superiority" of the generated images directly and heavily depends on having the algorithm analyze as many images as possible of that exact kind first. so in order to generate the images, similar images have to exist in the first place.

I'm not denying you need to be shit before you improve, however, I refuse to call their doodles "art", you evolutionary U-turn
It's a disgrace to the meaning of the word itself, and honestly calling anime "art" is beyond disgusting, the old masters would cringe seeing that, so yeah, keep drawing your trash scribbles and don't call it art, since it's not true art, it's not better than shit AI spews out, but at least AI doesn't take a week to do one image
But hey, maybe one day if you'll ascend to the point where you can call your images art, I doubt, you'll probably 41% yourself sooner than that, however, one can hope

Unless they drastically chance how AI art works, it'll never be efficient for anything other than pretty random images.

It would need to work more like 3d, where the user has absolute control over pose, angle, composition, textures, shaders, lights and then it would make only the rendering. But I guess that would be too much gatekeeping for them.

Anon
1. The tech has been officially out for couple of months, you think studios are this fast to swap out people
2. To get good images, you still need prompter with autism or else you get mess of artefacts
3. Its still just 2D images of things. Nobody in the industry needs still 2D images. Most of the industry is 3D animations, or 2D animations, both of which AI is completely and utterly incapable as of yet. In terms of videoAI or 3D model AI, we are still in early 2021 or even earlier with the models that produce hot garbage, so wait 1 or 2 years to see stuff happen.
4. What do you mean all time high demand for artists? You mean like in the last 5 years the demand has been only increasing? No shit, market moves pretty slow, and legal issues even slower. This tech is something that was basically kept secret and then was released onto the market when it was already mere steps away from recreating all 2D art and rendering photorealistic images. Go look at what the tech was able to do in 2021, very few talked about it, but it was still impressive and was definite writing on the wall.

This cope has been around for 4 months, since then the AI learned how to make clothing that looks the same on both right and left arm, learned how to make lighting composition, and even sometimes gets hands correct and backgrounds correct, not to mention the fact that proportions and poses are correct basically 98% of the time, all without changing the way the program works whatsoever. Its so good the 3D model AI is using imagie generator to then turn them into 3D. Just like how you know what angle the hand should be without looking at reference or looking at your hand, so the AI pattern recognition know.
