If you are a /beg/inner or /int/ermediate in art, group in this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.
Use this thread instead of making new threads or post in the drawthread with fundamental exercises.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS wide using one of the following methods:
1. screenshot the image and post that instead
2. change camera capture settings to something smaller
3. send to computer and resize in MSPaint

TRY TO BE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK.
When giving feedback, avoid vague "advice" - point what's wrong and try to give the anon you're quoting a clear direction to improve their art (study heads < watch THIS VIDEO about head structure, read THIS SECTION of THIS ARTIST'S BOOK, etc).
You, feedback seeking anon, should also try to be clear and concise when asking for critique/help. When posting your artwork, say what you want help with, and what's your goal with the study/artwork.

Ok so bear with me
1) what are some good head/face learning sources. Proko covering loomis is good but his eye explanations wasn’t good. I then moved onto Steve Huston I fell in love with his beginner’s head construction but when I followed up with the intermediate section I was very confused I’m not done with it. I will power through the intermediate part but I’m heartbroken over how how confused I am so far.
If possible what are some good resources that cover facial features properly? Especially the eye since my eyes look like shit.
2) I’m getting angsty over brushes, please someone tell me a good brush and i promise I’ll stick with it until I get angsty again. I’m using (primarily) Procreate and photoshop.

I just finished a drawing I'm quite satisfied with and enjoyed the whole process of making it. This gave me a great surge of motivation and happines so I tried drawing something in extreme perspective.

It's almost like I forgot how to draw after finishing the last painting, the work process doesn't flow nicely and it looks like shit.

I feel like shit and currently contemplating suicide and the end of my art studies.

Is this normal?

when you have an idea for a illustration that involves something new, do studies that will help first. doing some boxes in extreme perspective first, studying what clothes a musket man will wear, etc. when you feel comfortable with it you can move onto the next thing, if you tackle too many new things at once you will get overwhelmed

u back esdeathanon !!
I can't redline right now but if you draw with a pencil I see two problems
- apply less pressure on the pencil, sketching is delicate work, you need to be precise and able to erase a lot
- I remember thats a major problem for you but please draw *slower*, the muscle are not accurately reproduced at all theres a shit ton of chicken stratching I really feel like you put 0 effort in those arms but I think ur just impatient it will be more beneficial for you to draw a few well made gestures than 10^39293 botched ones

Go on youtube and watch at least 4 videos on values then come back to this piece.

I appreciate that you're working with a round brush as a beginner and that often is the best way to study drawing, but you would have better results with landscapes using a couple of textured brushes.

I can also tell that you zoomed in a lot working on her face. The less zooming you do, the more cohesive a piece will be. See that there are a lot of fine lines on her face and none in the rest of the drawing.

Nothing wrong with studying your fav artists or styles. But what you're doing is copying and replicating the end result of the artist's product. You are skipping the actual work phases what they went through to achieve the end result. If i were you I would try first reconstructing the pic. You can use those pics you've used to copy the end result but instead of copying the final lines, try constructing them from the scratch. Try breaking the body parts into parts, basic shapes that eventually make up the body and body parts. It helps you understand how characters and perspective are constructed. When you understand what are the base forms under the final lines, it makes the shading easier. And don't be discouraged :)

this is very cool. its like you are inches away from being INT. All i can point out is that you are scared to push the values (but you can argue they are in well lit room so there isnt much space for dark tones). Still if you made the background more darker it would pop the characters. You could also render some highlights or even render some blurry figures in background sitting at bar or dancing. The gold rendering could be way better (the hair ornaments). But its still very decent. Also missing nails

I don't, at least not when I'm finished.
Typically I absolutely find my work revolting while I'm putting down the baseline proportions. But as soon as I lay down the baseline shadows the picture takes a sharp turn from revolting to pretty, and the more shading I add the more I fall in love with my work.
Sometimes I like my work so much, that my feeling of adoration makes it hard to continue drawing and I have to take a break to calm down(days).
In any case I didn't put in even 1% of my typical effort into proportions, so the image image I posted turned out wonky as hell.
While if I put in time and effort, it turns out beautiful to my eyes.

So not sure where you get the notion you are supposed to despise every piece you make.

I know it is part of the anime style's nature, but there is a lot of symbol drawing going on here to the point it's flattening your drawing. Yeah, Im drawing on "feel" rather than looking for doing things how they should be done. A lot of these Im posting because I just wanna share rather then critique, which is ofc not the intention of the thread but i couldnt find one to just dump stuff. Maybe if I end up posting the finished dragon it'll be more critiqueable since right now its like the crazy initial approach and not the finished thing.

Why are you setting yourself for failure and then feeling bad for failing? What are you trying to achieve?

Considering most of the art was either scribbly sketches or some weird misshapen linework, I like it. Zooming in and fixing lineart does help.
Of course it could be just cope because I just drew a head of an ugly guy.
