I think new copywrite laws will be made in the future to prevent monitizing these types of AI models. Mainly because it is extremely easy to enforce such copyright laws. There are no gray areas here, the court can gain access to the training dataset and clearly see the artists who were infringed upon.

On the other hand though I wonder how could AAA studios use models like this in a legitimate way?
Even if they were prepared to pay every artist the that the model was trained on, it would be like 1,000 different artists that they would have to contact and ask for permission. Basically impossible logistically.

They took some never asked and not needed tech and tried to get rid of the artistic process, letting a machine does every single step for you and all you had to do was prompt, but now they thought it was still too much of a gatekeeping I guess?

What has become of art, don’t you feel ashamed? Art isn’t a product that needs do be industrialized and mass produced, it’s not essential, instead, it’s a human trait, just like acting or dancing, it doesn’t need automation and even if you automate them, nothing beneficial will come out it, differently than automating fabrics, farms, etc.

> court can gain access to the training dataset and clearly see the artists who were infringed upon.
NovelAI, for example, is probably the one profiting the most, but they don’t use artist’s names in their prompt system and once the model is made, all artworks used already became some random noise.

No, not at all. You buy the rights to their portfolios, hire a bunch of jeets to do the needful data entry, and you're all set. What, you think there's roadblocks set up on the race to the bottom? The only way you can stop this is by adding toilets to all your paintings. If you won't do it, nobody to blame but yourself.

The difference is most artists get into art because they like it, even third worlders are like that. Making money from art is only a way to sustain an artist's lifestyle that is to make art instead of doing anything else. You can work in mcdonald and make the same money you would have to study art for years to start making

On the other hand AIfags don't care about art until someone tells them there's a tool to steal art for them, and all they need to do is to pick a well camouflaged stolen product and sell for easy money. Which is the perfect scam. Easy money always is. They never think of art as art, just easy money. They see rich artists who make good money and think wow, now that I have access to their skills I can make that much money too. Only they don't understand why those artists make good money in the first place, because they don't understand art.

There's a perception that third worlders live like kings by doing art, so they do it for the money. Which is wrong. Learning to do art is a long and grueling process. It's easier for them to "make it", or get a livable income, sure. But even for them, getting a wageslave job is still a better prospect instead of risking years of practice until they make it, which is almost impossible not to quit halfway through if you don't like doing art in the first place. I like this better. As an ai artist, prompting is quite exhausting. With this, I can find my vision in a relaxed way, a kind of, "I'll know it when I see it." My subconscious will recognize my art, my vision, among the output images.

Yeah, not to mention it isn't a particularly stable job, especially if you're working entirely freelance. You might stumble across an occasional commission hound who has an endless well of ideas they want to see, but one day they get bored, die, or fall on economic hardships of their own. Or you fall into a bout of art block, can barely throw together anything presentable, and your Patreon bux drop due to low output and a dip in quality. I guess some of the people who get their panties in a wad over artists making money from commissions assume that every commissioned artist is pumping out furfag sketches for $300 a pop with more orders than they can handle or runs a $10,000 a month Patreon account, but the reality is that even a lot of popular artists aren't reliably rolling in the cash (and if they're from an area with a high cost of living, there's a very good chance they're making less than minimum wage from their work).

This. At the end of the day, I'm a white collar artist/art director, and all best directors know how to guide and let their team due the work, advising and correcting as needed to achieve a strong, cohesive vision and pleasing product. Too much micromanaging of prompts is honestly counterproductive and typically a sign of an unskilled and indecisive AI artist.

for third worlders, tech and code is seen as "a way out", their ticket to a good life. Its an extension of "study hard and your life will be great". Art is kind of the opposite, its about enjoying the life you have and creating something beautiful out of it. More like 3 months. I always said it. Promptniggers will be automated faster then real artists. Look what is happening. People still prefer real artists, real artists who have a clout are not losing money, and real industry artists like concept artists and background artists are nowhere losing jobs at mass. Thats the goal. The moment voice synthesis becomes indistinguishable from real speech and chatbots learn how to react to stuff on screen, we will replace all Vtubers and Youtubers too shy to show their faces. Then when deepfake moves from fugly, we will replace even the youtubers who look at the camera. Once prompt generators become good enough to fully replace prompt engineers by just writing word sallad and outputting great prompts, we will create endless amount of Twitter bot accounts and Pixiv accounts, and Deviantart accounts, and all other social media accounts, and spam the internet with AI generated art that was also directed by AI, and prompted by random word generator. We will flood youtube with shitty AI made videos, spamming Netflix with AI made movies, spamming Steam with AI made games. For every human made content, there will be 10 to 100 AI contents coming up. It will overload all the world servers to the point where they will have to stop it somehow, but it will be impossible. Just not marking AI content as AI content nobody will be able to tell them apart, so they will have to figure out something that will limit both AI and humans. Once that is done, the bottom people will be excluded from the internet, internet will become paid service in order to stay afloat with all of that traffic. Poor people will not afford being on the internet, but rich guy who already paid for 600 graphics cards to run the botnet will be able to do it. Step by step bots will be replacing humans from the web, until the web becomes completely unusable, disgusting to all people around, and overall just a pile of shit. All social media companies will go the route of Twitter and Facebook in the recent years, and all content made by AI will be ridiculed. This operation will cause damage that will be remembered, and will be used as justification to never ever develop social media for normies or use AI for this.

The world will then heal from the wounds of 21st century.

it's not that AI is going to kill digital/traditional artists
it's that art itself is going to become so fucking irrelevant because any random anon is going to be able to create any artwork for a videogame, album cover, or anything without any help
you're better off learning how to create videos/music/videogames even though AI is going to learn how to make those too in a few years
the good thing is that those AI "Artists" who are laffing now are going to be irrelevant and utterly useless within the next 5 years because guess what; nobody fucking needs (you) either, you have no skill, and anybody can do what you do with a 5 min tutorial, even a 60-year-old man with 0 knowledge will be able to create the art for his website without any help

The funniest thing is that I am not even an artist. I don't do any kind of art except for occasional doodles.

I am stemfag who looks at the state of AI art, and observe how it is evolving and how it will soon creep into my own major. Techbros were saying for decades that coding and creative jobs will be the last to automate, and now we see the complete fucking opposite happening, so I don't buy a single piece of shit coming from these guys mouth.

Also another thing is that Art being automated is perhaps the single biggest line to be crossed in terms of automation affecting human society and US people developing with AI. Art is not useful, its not finite, its oversaturated and NOBODY was asking for it to be automated, while many people are heavily against it. If art gets automated just because we are able to automate it and we automate literally anything that can be automated, then we are heading for the single worst future possible.

If we can automate these "priviliged" artists taking too much money to draw more pictures then people can consume, then what is stopping us from replacing CEOs? What s stopping us from replacing the government? You wanna pay 500k salary to some dipshit CEO doing less work then the average worker in his company? After all CEOs are nothing but tools for the investors to produce more money from the company. Why not let AI research AI research? What could go wrong when textbots that we barely manage to not make racist gain the ability to learn at exponential rate without human oversight? What could go wrong when we provide bots literally any date to learn from? If copyrighted material is not safe from learning, then why not let the soon to be AGI learn about manipulation psychology articles? Why not let it learn research into the internet networks? Why not let it learn about secret government projects if it is part of the government? Why not just fucking kill ourselves because any critic of AI is a luddite too scared of change?

Piracy has always and will always be a service problem. This has been demonstrated time and time again. People are more than willing to pay for decent art education, but the fact is that art education is varied and doesn't work for everyone because artists are inherently different. Some learn from Proko, others learn from copying Bridgman, others still just wing it and draw figures for years.
Regardless, I did pirate James Gurney's books, as well as How to Draw and a bunch of other art books. And when I had the money, I also bought the ones that were most useful to me.
But since you're so worried about the wellbeing of art instruction, you should be even more worried about teachers losing a large chunk of their potential income from people who are demoralized and who will stop drawing because there is no longer a real career for artists. No more top artists who will direct potential buyers and pupils towards the best teachers.

CEOs and congressmen, plumbers and electricians, according to this thread.

But seriously, technically none.
It just depends on the society and will or the people and leaders.
Look at the last 30 years, USA has exported it's entire manufacturing industry to China at the expense and destruction of the middle class so millionaire can become billionaires, while Japan and Germany kept theirs mostly in country adopting automation while keeping jobs in their nations (Japan is slowly bleeding to death money wise, while Germany did well until Russia turned off their lights)

In the coming decades you'll see up to 90% of all jobs be replaced or heavily impacted by automation, they've been saying this for years, but ppl forget about it until it blows up in their faces like this ai thing on /ic/.
It's unlikely any single working artist lost their job from ai art so far, but it has literally only been 2 months since this came out.

When I was a kid, ~2000, there was annual phonebook sized sourcebooks, where illustrators took out ads for editors to look over who to hire for their illustrative needs, that doesn't exist anymore, everything is Photoshoped stock-art now, let alone anything being printed.
Who can say what will happen in the future?

I believe AI and single task robots in general will assume most jobs in the next 20 or 30 years.

This atrocity will lead to mass unemployment, because unlike those that says “new jobs will appear as new tech are released”, most of these techs will be autonomous and any new job created will also be automated because this is an endless cycle.

eh... that's a lazy artfag at least, prompters really don't care about art or learning it, I've seen them render out 200 more images to get good RNG on the hands rather than taking few minutes to fix it in photoshop, I've even link them paint.net and showed them how, they don't care

it's a different mindset, if ai development is slow enough, a new culture will arise like photographers...
