Why do so few people draw, or do something creative in general? I only have one friend who kind of cares and he does like one drawing every month. I wish I could draw with friends and share art

For most people having kids is their only aspiration that isn't consumerist shit like getting a better paying job so they can buy a fancy car.

It's actually insane to me that they can just live like that without wanting to kill themselves. When I started my first fulltime job and moved out of my parents house the monotony and feeling of "this is it" after like half a year was actually driving me to suicide. I ended up picking up drawing to give myself I sense of purpose and it's pretty much what keeps me alive and hopeful now. I'm starting to unironically believe in the npc meme because I cannot comprehend how a sentient being can just surrender himself to that sort of existence and not be constantly bothered by it to the point where he breaks and does something or kills himself

Because it's hard. Normies want validation, instant gratification. They cannot handle the burden of a 5-10 year long journey of gradual improvement and having to stare at your flaws and failings constantly. It takes an exceptionally strong person to fail every day as is expected of beginner artists. Drawing retarded faces and broken figures for months or years depending on your rate of learning. Normies who try to draw either see how bad their work is and give up, or complacently stay in one place and insist that it's subjective. Also normies rarely have stories to tell, so their art rarely evolves past the drawing pretty pinterest girls phase.

I have a friend who works for 10 hours a day 6 days a week at some soulless office job (he takes as much overtime as they let him) and just goes on alcohol binges on the weekend, when I ask him why he does it he just says there's nothing else to do in life. Besides work, he just buys stuff for his car or PC and drinks.

>why so sus

Drawing is kind of a shitty hobby when you think about it, the ratio of fun to effort is abysmal and it takes years to even get to the point where you can admit it to your friends and not be made fun of for your lack of faith in Loomis.

It takes a special kind of autism or madness to draw on your free time instead of all the other fun things you could do which carry instant gratification for minimal effort.

the real crime is that the op thinks artist friends will appreciate ur work more than normie friends - when its the opposite. An art friend will sit there and critique ur work or yes man u out of pity, but a normie has no clue and sees something u draw whether it be shit or awesome and is like "damn you made this? this looks just like wario giving birth to luigi and wario is the father!"

Bitch why would you not want critique on your work

>> No.6362770

>>6362757
critique is nice its why i come here but not every time u show a drawing or a picture does there need to be some critique or something, sometimes u just want to show a drawing and have someone go thats cool.

it requires extreme introspection and dedication, its not for everyone. Most people don't have the urge to be creative, they literally let public opinion decide their thoughts for them.
