If you're a beg, don't bother with anatomy.

Once you're a bit more advanced, you'll know the kind of things you'll need to study within anatomy. It's a big topic: there are different approaches, and there's not a single book that will cover all of them.

If you really want to start with anatomy, go with something like Huston's **figure drawing** book, or with Morpho's simplified form. Huston is likely to be a better choice for beginners, you get more than just bare anatomy. Morpho's are nice pocket books.

It is
There is a lot of Leyendecker’s story, and influences, family and whatnot, and a lot of his work, sometimes as a full page reproduction.
The only thing is, since they tried to fill the book with as much of his work as the could, there are a bunch of really interesting pieces in a small format, and they lose a lot of the details and texture. Especially in the part about The Saturday Evening Post. But if you like his work, and/or technique, it’s worth the investment

Not really. But they stated he was a very secretive person (being gay in that time and all), so a lot of his knowledge is lost. There was no such thing as cosplay - in America, anyway. The dealers' room had lots of books like the kind we prize here... of course, now you can get all of those for free on E-H. Also, I met Kenichi "Gunsmith Cats" Sonoda in person; Leiji Matsumoto (Captain Harlock, Space Battleship Yamato, Galaxy Express) cancelled at the last minute when a close family friend passed away.

R. Talsorian Games reproduced a lot of Sonoda's paintings and line drawings for the Bubblegum Crisis RPG, plus work from later episodes and other designers that worked on the series. I didn't realize Satoshi Urushihara ever worked on BGC, but now that I think of the girls from episodes five and six, it make sense.

>free on Animeigo's wiki
I wonder if Adam Warren knows his BGC comic is there for free. Surely they've worked something out that involves money.

Loomis was ahead of his time in art instruction for beginners but Fun with a Pencil starts off with spheres which are quite difficult for a complete beginner. I pushed through it a few years ago, so it's not impossible but I would recommend starting with a more beginner friendly book like Keys to Drawing to learn basic observation, mark making, line control and form skills. Once you have the basic forms down, you could start with Hampton if that is what you wanted. One of the early chapters show you what level you need to be at to get the most out of the book. His CGMA course helps a lot too, as well as his free YouTube videos. Once you are over the beginner technical hump, and hopefully you have learned how to teach yourself so you can evaluate where you are lacking and decide for yourself what resources to learn from to reach your goals.

I am not day 0 beginner though, I wanted to pick Loomis to have a stronger foundation, I feel like I spend too much time in a drawing because I am still not sure how to approach it, if that makes sense, I picked up too many bad habits from animu and now all my figures look like alien children's too.... Also, really like old American illustrators and I think he's the only one that ever wrote a book. But thanks I will check more of Hampton after I am done with roomis sensei!
i was thinking loomis>hampton>anatomy for sculptors for figure drawing.

NTA but Jack Hamm wrote some books too, and Rockwell's book isn't a how-to but there's a part that gives some insight into his workflow.
You probably already read it if you like that stuff, but James Gurney's blog has some details about how they worked, too, like Pyle's 50 thumbnails thing. He and Apatoff (illustrationart on blogspot) have good analysis posts, too, which is helpful for figuring out what to look for and think about when you're studying a specific artist yourself.

I studied all over the place so and am still trying to decide on what I want to do so I wouldn't recommend anyone to follow this. Went something like:
Andrew Loomis - Fun with a Pencil
Bert Dodson - Keys to Drawing - Chapter 01
Robert Hale - Drawing Lessons From the Great Masters (First Three Chapters)
VolenCK - Understanding Drawing
ChouTac - Absolute Basics
Forrest Imel - Beginner's Guide to Art Fundamentals
Michael Hampton - Analytical Figure Drawing (video course and book)
Hardy Fowler - Photoshop Fundamentals in One Hour
Hardy Fowler - Art Fundamentals in One Hour
Aalma do Luar's 7 Months of Art Improvement Challenge (includes most of Prokos free anatomy stuff)

Plus lots of YouTube videos throughout from Sycra, Steven Zapata, NMA, FZD, Steve Huston, Michael Hampton, LoveLifeDrawing, Proko, ctrl-paint, Anthony Jones, Lixin Yin, Marc Brunet, Scott Waddel, Sinix, Dave Rapoza, Jens Claessens, Marco Bucci, Marshall Vandruff, Adam Duff, Ahmed Aldoori, ModernDayJames, Noah Bradley, Alphonso Dunn, Stephen Bauman and loads more I'm forgetting.

Since you wanna do stuff like Loomis, studying all of his stuff would be fine. Like the other Anon said, Jack Hamm and James Gurney are good. I would also rec the Famous Artist Course. Rockwell, among others contributed to it, they also had an Advanced Programme people seem to forget about. Also Dover published a lot of art instructions books you may find useful, LibGen has loads you can download for free.

Most resources that get recommended and posted here are more than adequate. They all describe the same things in different ways, and while I think it can be helpful to see different explanations on the same subject just remember there's really no secret to it other than just sticking to something.
Sure it's better if you have concrete goals about specific parts of your artwork other than a vague notion of "improvement", and it's important to draw things other than studies, but like that Anon implied it's immeasurably important to pick something, anything to follow through with. Even if it's the humble ol' Loomis.

That was honestly my biggest mistake, trying to find ''THE book'' or ''THE course'' and not sticking to anything, recently I realized that pretty much all drawing methods and book are dedicated from roomis sensei and even the Japanese artists recommend him! gonna try to stick to it this time.

Thank You bruv, but its only 19 pages?

epub files don't have traditional pages like a pdf.
I basically did a long screenshot for every section of the book, nothing is missing.

thank you so much for sharing
as expected it's pretty much the same thing we've already seen before, but I actually like studying the same concept from different perspectives and going back to the basics in case I've forgotten some important concepts
though I feel like these books are a little overrated and overpriced

Has anyone read "Cartooning: Philosophy and Practice by Ivan Brunetti"? Does it go over the "flow" of comics and drawing them? Or is it more like babies first drawing book? Something about this book catches my attention, but I'm not sure "exactly" what the book is about... other than comic and the philosophy and practice of them.

Thank you very much anon. Though I have to say I am very dissapointed.

It’s basically just cliff notes of her YouTube lectures.

Pretty obvious Tbchoi made this to cash in from webs. It has very little educational value.

I guess everybody is different but the books that helped me the most -so far- are
Figure Drawing design and invention - Michael Hampton
Figure Drawing for all its work worth - Lomis
Dynamic Figure Drawing - Burne Hogarth
Dong Ho Kim - Space Drawing Perspective-Superani
RockHe Kim's Anatomy Drawing Class

all these books are already available /here/
you really don't need anything else to get you started unless you wanna go hardcore read Scott Robertson

I feel like every other popular memebook that gets super popular for a month is kinda teaching the same shit we all know
