To be fair mecha just isn't interesting for modern audiences.
The entire premise of mecha shows is built on a flawed foundation that humanoid mechs could ever logistically provide a battlefield advantage when everyone knows its an objectively inferior design to more grounded models such as tanks or dedicated air vehicles. Even ignoring the weakness of delicate joints and problematic mechanical pieces the extra mass required inherently limits a humanoid mech as that same space could be used for more weapons or fuel instead of transformation parts.

Overall with the increased intelligence of later generations we've all but moved on from archaic ideas such as mechs and are focused on more realistic forms of vehicle combat.

Also to add, mechs are just kinda lame looking.

That's a fair point but you're threating mecha as science fiction. Many mecha shows are moreso fantasy than science fiction, like transformers. Not saying that there haven't been attempts at realistic mecha stories/design, but they're not the meat of the genra. I don't think anyone took Gundam or such as actual serious realistic writing. At the end of the day mecha most just cool robots shooting lasers, it ain't the most high brow of genras.

It's reasonable to hold your disbelief for certain things such as the existence of magical power sources or why certain technology can be allowed to exist.

However it's harder to ignore logical failings. A magical power source is just based on the idea that there exists a better way of getting energy than we currently have which is in the realm of believability even if the justification isn't the best.
But when they give you a powerful power source and don't use it in a logically consistent manner then that's where your disbelief gets triggered. If we can give a mecha a giant laser beam it makes no sense that we're not giving tanks and airships even bigger laser beams. If we have tech and computers as advanced as those in star wars androids, it makes no sense that we don't have extremely basic targeting systems or AIs handling tracking.
Thats where problems with science fiction happens. It's not the existence of tech or a material that's unbelievable, it's the usage and applications of that tech.
