Wassup, I'm back again lol. I took proportion advice and I think I have improved little a bit. This is my character's new reference sheet, any criticism would be appreciated. Thank you.

You've got the desire to draw and create characters - that's a great start. To improve proportion is a good start, but it's going to take lots of anatomy practice if you wanna make good characters. It will take a long time, as it does for anyone. good luck

My anatomy is fine. I think you don't like my style lol. Post your art. I want to laugh at it.

Thank you lol. I think my biggest thing right now is torsos and legs. I either make the bitch too tall in the torso or too short in the legs. I'll keep drawing her until I get that happy medium, I wanna get better lol

It's too late to delete the thread, but to anyone else that does respond, just know you'll probably get insulted by an anon with my name lol. Any criticism is still greatly appreciated as I would like to improve my art

I kinda developed my own, not to sound narcissistic. It's a mix between, anime, cartoony, and realism. More than anything I wanna get anatomy right.

>> No.6229713

Study and practice drawing simple shapes in 3d. The feet look like it's medieval art-flat to the sides and the arms do a bit too.

But yeah it's hard to tell you where to improve since you have your own style apparently. Please do an influence map https://www.deviantart.com/foxorian/art/Influence-Map-Template-174550753 welp, back to slurping on dog seed then

>> No.6229720

Lack of skill is not a 'style' since its not a conscious choice.

Thank you, I guess the best way I can describe what "style" I'm going for is anime/mixed with western animation. I really like the art of Wamu recently, but I've influenced by a lot of different artists. But thank you for the advice.

OP honestly since you already seem to have a style and are going for that 2D cartoony style I don't think you really need to study 3D, just animation. Start using a cartoon animation software and moving around those arms and legs.

I'm 21, and I'm not going for that much realism
>>6229777
Thank you, I had no idea how to describe my style lol. It's cartoony with a hint of anime. I might try animation, but mainly I wanna improve my standalone regular art.

>> No.6229810

>>6229784
cartoons and anime are just stylized realism my dude
you have to have fundamentals to base a style on.
you're not skilled enough to even have a style yet.
if you wanna get better the first step is to admit to yourself that you're not very good.
second step is to figure out why you're not very good, and then start improving from there.

even if you want to draw cartoons you need to learn some very basic realism.

well you're nowhere close to getting to there
look to draw 3d forms and how to breakdown styles you like
learn those fundies

read the sticky and the beginner's guide if you want some guidance

Thank you, I'll study more 3D shapes and colors to figure it out. My lineart is very flat and I want to fix that.
>>6229844
Thank you, I'll check it out. And honestly I have noticed people are INCREDIBLY critical lol. It doesn't hurt, more than anything it's just surprising. I'm trying to draw daily and show my progress after a week and hopefully get constructive criticism so I can improve. Last week's thread helped a ton, figure drawing has made drawing arms, bodies and legs much easier. Sorry for the long ass response lol.

Oh wow I was just like this at your age thinking my ART was perfect but knowing it wasn't....with the same reaction from 4chan that you're getting!

That is what I heard a lot, the pic I used for my OP is my most recent drawing of her. I tried to fix her leg problems lol

>> No.6229898

>>6229059
I haven't seen your earlier works, but they don't look bad! I can see you are thinking in 3d form instead of 2d contour lines which is great.

However at >>6229825 there are still some inconsistencies. Like her upper leg (to her right). The cylinder goes in one direction by that cross contour at her pants, but at her kneecap it goes to another direction. So it looks like her upper leg is bending, which should not be possible. And her hands are 100% lacking form. Try making it consistent.

I highly recommend reading the book Morpho: Simplified Forms. And try not only just copy the drawing, but understand the construction and draw it in any angle. And then try drawing it from imagination. You will definitely see better results!

>> No.6229902

>>6229898
Thank you, I'll look into it getting that book lol. I'm definitely trying to improve her so that she looks a lot better. I know her legs on my older drawing look effed up LOL.

You will. Imma 4 year homeless dude with a messed up head. But my legacy will be etched into this timeline!! And so will yours! Just keep on keeping on!

My legacy is doing ART and just placing it in places, been doing this for 4 years or so. Imagine all the hidden ART in the world just because of my existence

Learn to use a trip next time you namefag. Certainly not the best but can see you improving in your art skills if you put the effort to practice more. Read the stickie. There's a really helpful book on there called drawing on the right side of the brain
