Twitter artists with mediocre artwork but lots of followers because of networking/luck/circlejerking , are you doing your best to uplift actual good artists into the limelight?

Unfortunately the artworld has always largely been dominated via nepotism

Reminder that if your Twitter metrics shows that you have thousands of page views but almost no followers or engagement that isn't /ic/ locals you're not being suppressed by the algorithm, your art just isn't that good.

It's one of the problems with trying to get big on social media; you're pretty dependent on someone spreading your work, but in a way that can be traced back to you.

That said, the "good" thing about twitter is we also see other's likes, so while someone is not likely to retweet your work, they're quite likely to like it and get a few eyes on it, which is better than other sites.

I don’t believe in twitter analytics. My private twitter account with no followers on it still gets 3-5k profile visits per month. One month it had over 30k visits.

And how I know this is bullshit is I set up back links on the dead account to find out where the visits are coming from and it’s either 0 or hackers from saudi arabia or india.

if your art is good i'll like/retweet it no matter your follower count
and it just happens that smaller artists aren't that good

can you present some antidotes back up your thesis? By what standard do you judge people's quality relative to others, and by what criteria do you use to determine certain artist gets more engagement than they deserves?

Be comic book artist, get slated for book to get released, get passed in order of the book being released because another artist is friends with the CEO and is pushing some awful looking diversity checkbox of a story. gets pushed, book flops, dude still gets more opportunities, and thats just 1 comic book job experience. when i was doing "fine art" in new york it was so much worse cause all the galleries are either money laundering fronts or some trustfund fags birthday present
