Seriously. As a tradfag, AI and digital are the same to me, and I do not mean that as an insult. I mean you're both also artists just using different tools than me. How is AI any more or less bad than tracing 3D models? How is it any more or less bad than brushes that make hair and grass for you with one swipe or tools that automatically put things into perspective? It's not. It's just another tool. Use it or don't, but please stop freaking the fuck out like this. I wonder if this is how realistic painters reacted when the camera was invented.

You know I'm right and that's why you're so upset. You rely on brushes to do things trad artists spend hours doing by hand, stroke by stroke and line by line in just a few seconds. There is literally nothing wrong with either side. I enjoy making art my way and you enjoy making art yours. I see AI as the same thing - instead of spending a longer time photobashing and tracing to get to your end result, you just use AI.

AI is not a fucking tool you dipshit, I see so many retards arguing this, but this tech is not being designed as a "tool" for artists to use, in the same way photography or photoshop or 3D were. Digital coloring has always been a problem due to its untransforming nature. They don't mix to each others and don't blend well with a digital canvas. It probably isn't, and all that would happen is the professional ones would ask permission to look legitimate, possibly creating the scenario where these tools are priced out of our hands while the big studios still get to use them. But do remember you're on a board with stickied Loomis pdfs and frequent pdf and tutorial sharing threads, is your style stolen? The free ones are out there in the world now, do you really think this board, with the mantra 'no rules only tools' and this site isn't going to join you in this dumb paranoia crusade in the long run. You have absolutely no idea how these tools work. It's actually extremly simple and boring, unlike AGI which isn't out yet.
https://youtu.be/VMj-3S1tku0
The only reason gradient descent algorithms are sometimes able to create have nice results is because they are trained on hundreds of terabytes of data. If those were working on their own without human input, even if you had trillions of them working in tandem for trillions of years, they wouldn't come up with anything creative ever. This is because their "creativity" is entirely derived from whatever target outputs and loss function is given.

The next GPT will be 3 ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE LARGER. We're talking 1,000x more parameters. The ones after will just get larger and larger and more and more powerful. We haven't even hit diminishing returns. We're literally at the dawn of this technology. All this time, we assumed intelligence was some special thing that would be hard or even impossible to achieve, when in reality Sutton was right: Scale is ALL that matters. We could literally bootstrap a civilization-destroying godlike AI in the next decade just by continual bootstrapping through scale. I am personally glad all human life will end soon, as I hate existence to the core. But I feel bad for my friends on /ic/ who have dreams that didn't take AGI into account.
