Why don't you guys create your own "AI Art General" on >>>/g/ instead of here? Are they really too hostile to you guys over there, or do you just enjoy fucking with us?

Seeing as the board is about technology and engineering, I can't see why it wouldn't be allowed there? And the best part is, you wouldn't have to worry about hostility from the anons over there, since they're onboard with the Ai stuff, it would actually benefit you more than us.

I have a confession. I have been using AI to help define my ideas. Sometimes, you’re trying to draw something, and you can define each individual part but not all of them together. Maybe you can, but it just won’t stay in your head long enough- or it does but you have to close your eyes to see it. Anyway, do not fear AI. It’s no less of a hack than using something like a curly hair brush or 3d models or undo.

"bro like bro like do you now about M1DJOURN3Y like bro like it generates ART bro"

Fuck off you retarded cunt, these AI stuffs can be spotted a mile away for a reason : it follows the same process of generation, therefore sometimes putting the same person twice like in your picture; but also putting unecessary crisps and details and sometimes putting nonsense, like clouds as both in the sky and on the floor.

There is no shortcut to art, photography didn't killed painting, digital painting didn't killed painting, AI shit still won't kill painting and if you want to make something of yourself you still have to learn perspective, anatomy and such.

Fuck off with your prompts now, this is an actual art place, we don't discuss what version of photoshop you use and we don't give a shit about your keywords sent to an AI.

reality is, an artist even just /int/ level can churn out better art with the ability to alter it at will at the same speed it takes for people to get a decent result from an ai, without the ability to even alter the image in any specific way
all this AI shit has taught me is people think all artists do is generic characters in standing poses lmao
its easier ad faster to just use 3D software to make models you can reuse over and over to paint over to be honest
learning basic blender and google sketchup is a bigger crutch and speeds up your process way more than ai
especially if you draw similar things you can use reuse the same bg and character models over and over posing them in whatever way and perspective you want
hell, blender now has a feature that lets you draw directly on top of the 3D model then transfer that sketch to your drawing software

people dooming over AI are bots, shitposting retards who dont draw, and the occasional permabeg whos too dumb to research anything about making digital art and what tools are out there compared to ai
just photobashing the old fashioned way like concept artists gets you the results faster and easier than ai with again, more flexibility on altering the image and creating wtv you want

basically, from 3D to photobashing, we already have better tools than ai
ai just gets attention because it doesnt need any drawing or painting skills and gives the illusion of being able to be used as a substitute when it snot even on the same level as 3D and photobash in the hands of even a /int/ level artist let alone a pro

still wonder how long until jannies begin deleting these threads

You can for example use Clip studio to take a photo and give it a mean diffusion pass with machine learning smooth, it will give it a painterly look and will be 50% of the work towards a done job.

With AI prompts you can skip that towards 80% of the work and focus on details and characters instead.

The trannime and video games market is already ultra saturated of low quality crap, with a winner takes all tendency, kinda like with onlyfans whores, where the top creators make like 98% of all money.

This will only flood the already saturated market even more, not only seasoned creators will increase their output but a bunch of talentless hacks will flood it even more.

This will lower your chances of even 'making it' (releasing a commercially successful product) to near lottery levels of luck

No it didn't. In sporadic contexts, photographs can illustrate, but photography can't replace illustration, they are different disciplines.
>I'd also argue that where this technology is headed means that it itself will have no value anymore, except to the person drawing or "prompting" it, since we'll all be so flooded and able to generate infinite variations in a heartbeat, that any artistic endeavour you could create will be indistinguishable from the noise.
Artistic endeavours were never judged based on their use value by anyone but philistines. Art has no use - we don't value it for fulfilling a material need. We can and do create practically infinite amounts of image data already thanks to practically everyone already having a camera in their pocket - it hasn't diminished the value of work of either painters or photographers.
>what do you think the ramifications of a world where we don't communicate with one another anymore is? where all we do is interact with these corporate algorithms for entertainment and company?
I don't know, the question is why would we care about this hypothesis? What makes the assumption that people would stop communicating with each other and only talk to companies because of some technology a reasonable one?

I can already see the infinite masses of AI trash easily being accepted in /mlp/ and furry oc boorus a few months from now. But what will happen when places like Pixiv, where the average artist's portfolio amounts to ~30 pictures, gets flooded with AI art by the hundreds hourly? Artstation is already being deprecated by them and there's nothing to be done. I guess real artists will just jump out of the ship, either drowning themselves or disappearing from the internet. There's no reason or need to put your art in display when you're in a dead space. Years from now and people will still be typing "art made by [That artist from 20 years ago]" and using their portfolios to generate pictures, because nothing new will come, at least in the digital realm

it absolutely did, you'd know this if you read an art history book ever. before photography, illustration was used for basically everything, post-photography it was mostly photos with only a much smaller role for illustrators. It is true that photography didn't complete supersede illustration however these generators being developed absolutely have the intent of bypassing the artist altogether.
>Artistic endeavours were never judged based on their use value by anyone but philistines. Art has no use - we don't value it for fulfilling a material need. We can and do create practically infinite amounts of image data already thanks to practically everyone already having a camera in their pocket - it hasn't diminished the value of work of either painters or photographers.
art absolutely has a purpose; it is a form of expression and communication between people; if 99.999999% (and it will be that much, given how much crap these algorithms can spit out; it's infinite) of art is generated by statistics then then that aspect is lost. I'm already second guessing half the stuff i see on twitter and it's turning me into a schizo - I have no desire to """communicate""" with an algorithm; as much as these techbros like to conflate the two. Color, tone, contrast, composition, noise, detail, borders and shapes need to be done manually because it helps telling a story.

I could see a neural brush in photoshop that outputs GAN details where you put it, just like Nvidia GAN, you can photobash a mountain, a river, some forests, all in a controlled manner.

Txt2img is a terrible paradigm for art in general, it's like a BEG tier artist getting godlike rendering powers, but the composition sucks, the colors are shat all over the canvas, the detail has zero hierarchy and the female character has three tits.

Asian artists use shortcuts like photobashing and 3D model tracing like anyone else. Obviously they won't generate prompts and call the result a finished job but they'll still make good use of the tool when it's such a serious time shortener.

i remember reading he got pissed off when someone sent a letter saying their kid watched totoro dozens of time on repeat, saying that he wished his art motivated people to touch grass and reconnect with the world rather than fixating on consuming media lol

yea it's gonna decimate skeb and freelance work though

Photobashing is more or less a method to give the painting textures. Usually these things are not regconized as digital painting but more like concept designs. A.I will stand lower than that due to how little human's interference it has.

I see no reason artists and designers will replace photobashing and 3d models with A.I. Models and photobash are just, much more powerful and coherent.

I am just reading Fun with dictionary and I decided to become a pro illustrator. How many hours per day do I need to dedicate to prompting in order to become a professional artist?
