How much would you say interesting and unique worldbuilding is important in art?

You don’t need unique world building to make good art. You need good art to build unique worlds.

Its pretty important if you're trying to draw anything that isn't a floating anime girl.

It really is. But the effort to make a good, non photobashed background is at least twice the time to draw another anime girl in the void, so it's not efficient if you're aiming for massive output for the clout on twitter. But I guess it's easier for some with solid fundies. How long do you guys usually spend on the background anyway?

all the top artists do great backgrounds. or at the very least are good at rendering graphical designs to accentuate their anime girls.

depends on what you are doing, some stories in artistic form are so simple that they barely need any worldbulding, but other artwork relies heavily on fleshed out background, terrain, architecture infrastucture nature etc. it really depends on who you are as an artist and what your intentions are when creating art,
for example: do you want to create a small world for funny sketches of your simplified characters or do you want a fleshed out mega franchise with detailed backgrounds that sell the scale of the universe your characters live in
