Confess your /ic/ sins brothers. I will start with myself: I have never read a book by Loomis because his theory is very outdated, it is for a specific drawing style and I never want to read that book

>I have never read a book by Loomis because his theory is very outdated,

How? His methods are still used by many people today. A technique on how to draw the head and other parts of the body doesn't become "outdated".

>it is for a specific drawing style

It's not. You're supposed to take the method and customize it to what you're trying to draw. You don't have to only draw in his style with it.

imagine thinking "proportions" is a theory that can be outdated, and also, imagine dismissing a way to draw before you even read the fucking book holy shit

i post overly positive and encouraging comments from time to time to reinforce artists bad habits making them stagnate
it works much better than typical crabbing since it comes wrapped up in a "feel good" package
especially good tactic in certain threads with certain types of people, you know which ones...
also add in some aggressive defense of those artists against the normal crabs to make it even more believable and easier for the artists to feel validated in their /beg/ tier art or unappealing twitter/tumblr art styles
kill em with kindness and they wont realize they are going downhill

It's not that all theory is bad, some things I still use, but I think the rest can be changed for new theory. For example, the system of proportions of loomis is of the 8 heads, the problem is that over time, when you draw people of different race, height and sex you realize that there are proportions that are more different from others. And I read the book but I left some theory aside because of what I said before sorry for the confusion

You're right, with loomis you HAVE to draw figures at 8 heads.

Loomis isn't the only one that uses the "8 heads" thing. And like how he draws heads and faces, they're idealized proportions. It's just a base to work with but like he says himself, you take it and alter the proportions depending on the character because just like in real life, not everyone is going to be built the same.

are you retarded? I swear this board LITERALLY does not understand how to learn.
You know that one of the hallmarks of autism is being unable to abstract categories? Do you literally think that in order to draw 1,000,000 body types you have to learn from 1,000,000 different art books?

I'm terrible with proportions and I use a grid when I do painting studies. Sorry guys, not wasting my time getting the sizes perfectly accurate when I just care about strokes and colors.

I've been using the grid drawing method to copy composition I've made with Daz study. To be honest, I think it's a very good shortcut, but it also makes me feel like a hack.

I am afraid. Afraid that I would not live up to my potential. All my family ever cares for is me wellbeing, but not my happiness. I could be the most productive son of a bitch on the block, but will always wear an empty look on my face to hide my fears and sorrows. I genuinely love to draw. STEM I also love, but it's second place and a means to an end, being art.

I have over 4 art books and never used any of them for anything other than a quick read-over"
as for actual sins against art - shredded almost every art piece/sketch i didn't like or deemed unworthy untill i was 15. Like 200 out of 600 pieces a year i make would just get dusted. I'd say i don't feel bad for the 15% of them that was soft porn, but it still was art.
