Same here, always drew since I was 6 but never got serious about it and it made me embarrassed so I've been drawing and studying each day. Pic rel is my usual way of drawing (poorly). My goal is to escape /beg/ hell and to become like the artists I have always admired.

haha ok dude you actually postedd your work. cant be mad at you anymore.
so, you posted your work on /ic/ and now you want some advice how you should improve youself. a deluge of posts will now commence, some providing ok advice, and most providing vague and angry responses.
at a glance, i too want to give you my own arbitrary assessment on where you artwork stands. but before that, i think it will benefit you the most if you post an example of something you strive towards. like a specific illustration, genre, artist etc that you personally want to be like. that way i can actually draw somewhat obejctive comparisons between your work and someone else's that you admire.

so, basically just post a pic of something you strive to draw like or a specific artist. i (and others who bother) can help you better that way

Truth: your family and friends don't know what good art is, constant blind praise from people close to you is exactly what causes so many young artists to stagnate very early.

You need to use your own best judgement to see if you can gain anything from people who say you're bad, if there's nothing there then move on. There should be no emotional response to negative comments, either you can use it or you can't.

Your brushes man you gotta learn to use something else other then the default pen. it really shows in the shading and highlights. Your anatomy is /beg/ teir so work on that you can see the weirdness of it especially in the legs in this pic.
oh also in regards to shading you dont have to just lower transparency even though its easier because it really shows.
for this one >>6207246
you can also tell you really like to use the blur tool to blend for depth and highlights try experimenting with that cuase it pretty jarring from your outlines the face on the fox looks pretty great but the hands and the gazelles face oof
this one >>6207298
im not accusing you of anything wrong just gonna ask if you traced out the faces cause they seem to be 10x more detailed then the rest of the rest of the piece. It looks like a Japanese newspaper ad face
and is an entirely different style from the ghost girl above him. also the shading and pen problems get pretty bad in this one as well.

Overall i think your all over the place with styles and techniques i think all you need to do is practice and focus on one technique at a time and do smaller peices even if they dont have color just practice the small things.

good luck sorry if i came off a little harsh your truly doing better than most OP

>> No.6207453

It doesn't really look that bad, honestly I've seen worse anatomy from famous coomer artists. You need to work on your rendering tho, you can definitely polish those to look much better even at your current level of drawing

take what you learned and make appealing art. Right now it just shows your technical level, but there's no soul in it. You can draw poorly and have a lot of soul and be popular.

>> No.6207989

You are not good, you lack basic skills in every area, the fact that you cant see this shows that you do not hold yourself to a high standard. You should go back to the drawing board and focus on drawing and rendering basic 3d objects in perspective before focusing on anything more complicated. You do not understand when to use hard and soft edges, everything is sloppy and unapealing.

That being said, dont give up, if you work hard and persist you will surely achieve your goals.

My visual library feels worse for having looked at your art, OP.
That is how bad it is
You need to start from scratch and learn the fundamentals, look at good art, and develop a sense of taste
Here is an example of what good furry art looks like

Your art is very hard to look at, uncanny characters and muddy coloring. I’d recommend looking to other artists for inspiration and to get a sense of appealing aesthetics.
Since you seem to like drawing cartoony
characters with bold lineart and soft shading, maybe styles similar to something in pic related will suit you.

Op back again. Didn't think this would still be active. I'm doing an assignment for school so I've been busy but thanks for your input. Here's some figure drawing I did earlier in the year. not bad. like an anon said, if you work on hardcore practice from 1 to 3 months you have potential to get comms.

your art lacks appeal, your colors are pretty shit, your faces uncanny. work on those. since you are not a complete beg maybe check the Naoki Saito threads.

get a target artist you like
draw an illustration trying to be as good as them
compare directly your art to their art
see what is different
study that until you feel you learned something
