You're drawing so you should improve regardless unless you have an actual learning disability. It's just an exercise. Any level of improvement is still improvement so if you improve even 0.01% then that is enough to show that it works.

I've actually noticed improvement studying like this so far in places and I've only been doing looser drawings off an on for the last week. If you pick an effective teacher to copy, committing to one artist really does open you mind up to alot of things you don't realize you needed improvement on.

I like the basic idea behind this method, but I'm not sure about just copying from one artist all the time. There are several different artists that I like, and I find myself liking aspects of one more than another. For example, I like the way one artist draws faces, but the way another artist draws bodies more, or how another artist renders.
While I could see copying from one artist at a time, solely dedicating yourself to one artist is what I am skeptical about. I'm willing to try the method nonetheless, but does anyone else not share my reservations?

2. Make an original drawing in that artists style.
3. Compare your art with the artist you chose
4.Find what you think you can improve on the most in comparison to your chosen artist and study to fix it.
5.Reflect on what you just studied and incorporate that new knowledge into your next piece, looping back to 2.

you can but you probably wont gain much from it, IMO at the very least get a decent understanding of form, observation(measuring, etc) and basic draftmanship (how to make clean lines, etc) if you're super beginner before giving this a try.
