Why You Should Copy Anime:
https://i.imgur.com/zNDsyF0.jpg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbKqIJcIUCw [Open]

**Strive for quantity AND quality.**

Anime Studying:
>Copy anime references exactly and draw them from memory. Use illustrations, screenshots, anime figures, 3D models, etc.
>Don’t copy recklessly. Use construction, color theory, and other fundamental concepts to rehearse a drawing process that you can later easily manipulate for original artwork.
>Post all of your anime studies. Post even when you’re told not to. Create an art community that actually draws and improves together instead of just talking about it.
>Number your attempts and link to your previous posts.
>Critiquers should lead by example by posting their studies.

General Anime Style Discussion:
>Questions about achieving certain styles/techniques/compositions etc.
>Drawing methods, study habits, resources, tutorials, tools, software, etc
>Be specific and try to post a sample of your study attempts before asking for help.

**Draw copies from good anime styled references to mindfully up our mileage, internalize appealing aesthetics, and learn from each other’s processes and knowledge.**

>Korean Artist mogs all of art twitter daily for over 3 months

I'm so curious about this guy. Any Korean speakers who were there for the streams, did he share any remarks about his overall experience with this challenge? He did it for 100 days straight, is it possible he could have kept going? Was there a significant health toll? How much was sacrificed to sustain this daily output of art?

He's setting a bold standard for others, and I think I've seen some people chastise him for doing so. Should we all be aiming to output finished work daily like this?

I can see some commissioners getting antsy about artists taking their sweet time on commissions, after seeing things like this on their timeline day after day.

Line strenght in this order
1. Outlines
2. Inlines
3. Details

Also keep in mind things that are closer have stronger lines than things that are further, and lines in light are lighter than lines in shadow.

I did shade again the clothing, this time without having look at the original while paining or any of the previous copies for 2weeks
1. the shading of the boobs is "acceptable", but the angle of shadows the original has gives the boobs a way better rounder and not too sagging appearance
2. I totally ignored the armpit part
3. for some reason I ignored the shape of her body, instead of taking into consideration her belly, I shaded that area as if it was hollow
4. didnt gave shade to the space between the boobs
5. I messed up the tension folds in the clothes

okay, some part of her hip is missing if you follow the countour of the leg in the left, then theres the fucking hands, hand in the right is broken as fuck see the ref, the other hand has the fingers with almost the same lenghtand level each, and the palm or back of the palm is too thicc looks like a potato, the legs are not really bad and it really comes to taste i guess, but the leg in the right is way too exagerated stylistically imo it looks like its melting, but that ankle is definitelly too far out on both sides so the ankle should be pushed towars the leg a bit, the neck is way too large or so it seems but i think is the jaw being too horizontal making the neck look larger also the neck should be more centered, then theres the skirt that looks flat and stiff.

Now what i would do is make the skirt twist following her legs and torso twist maybe not as exagerated as i did... then i would make the leg in the left more uhhh dynamic as the other leg because it looks off compared to the other aslo add some wrinkles on the corseth or whatever is called where the waist is turning.

Basically just use a soft brush for rendering, watch the lineart, and think about why the artist you are copying did things in the way they did, keep the light source and such in mind.

Watched it partially but he's basically talking about how to simplify pictures into basic shapes which makes it easier to analyze their structure, and to think in such basic shapes when drawing your own stuff. adding too much detail and then thinking "well why does this look like shit" is something he wants to prevent by having a real solid base first.
He also talks about negative shapes when looking at pictures to grasp forms.
