Why You Should Copy Anime:
https://i.imgur.com/zNDsyF0.jpg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbKqIJcIUCw

**Strive for quantity AND quality.**

Anime Studying:
>Copy anime references exactly and draw them from memory. Use illustrations, screenshots, anime figures, 3D models, etc.
>Don’t copy recklessly. Use construction, color theory, and other fundamental concepts to rehearse a drawing process that you can later easily manipulate for original artwork.
>Post all of your anime studies. Post even when you’re told not to. Create an art community that actually draws and improves together instead of just talking about it.
>Number your attempts and link to your previous posts.
>Critiquers should lead by example by posting their studies.

General Anime Style Discussion:
>Questions about achieving certain styles/techniques/compositions etc.
>Drawing methods, study habits, resources, tutorials, tools, software, etc
>Be specific and try to post a sample of your study attempts before asking for help.

**Draw copies from good anime styled references to mindfully up our mileage, internalize appealing aesthetics, and learn from each other’s processes and knowledge.**

Having issues with pictures I take for color studying purposes. It seems that more often then not the pictures get blurry when you zoom in no matter how sharp they looked before. Which makes the eyedropper tool unable to select the correct color properly. Long story short, how do I approach color studies? Is there a workaround for this issue maybe?

Can anyone recommend a doujin artist with a level of draftsmanship and skill comparable to Inoue Kiyoshirou? I've been consistently disappointed in the general lack of quality of most doujins I've come across since discovering his work about 2 years ago, but maybe I'm not looking hard enough. This is for study purposes rather than personal taste, so I'm not really concerned about the specific content of the drawings.

the better your skill is the less construction ad guides you need

but since most on /ic/ arent at the skill level they can use little to no guidelines, the generic loomis and wtv the fuck else construction methods are the correct advice

idk why people want to go straight to draw with the same workflow as people 100x their skill level without first understanding even why they draw that way and if it has anything to do with years and years of mileage and experience

funny thing is people regent construction until japanese books show you the same construction, people reject master copies a lot of the time until the random jp youtuber releases a book that says you have to do master studies etc etc etc

>> No.6163432

>>6163426
"Loomis" just means breaking down what a face is by putting key landmarks where relevant with what you're going with.
An artist aiming for an anime style isn't going to read Loomis because Loomis landmarks aim at a completely different kind of style. You don't need "Loomis", what you need is just seeing how other anime artists use construction themselves. If some idiots want to scream "see I told you! you're doing Loomis" it's their own problem - what the person is doing is just constructing. Loomis doesn't own constructive drawing.

I have once heard you should always draw what you aim for so I want to go for the best pick I can find. But you do have a point. It is probably unrealistic to find one artist that does everything better than other artists. They all have their good and their bad points.
Which once again leads me to a decision problem that I feel I have to pick an artist with features that are more important to me than other features. I feel the solution is to focus on points that are generally most appreciated in this case.. like good facial features, livelyness of the illustration, good choices of color..
It is just really rough to focus on one artist honestly..

/mid/beg /high/beg at best. The hands look alright but everything else is trash. the feet are ridiculous to the point I'm asking myself is not on purpose but for the target audience I think they care more about the character and not the art.

Watamote is just the lucky stars for the early 30 freaks trying to relieve the days where everything didn't sucked that is just the star wars for the freaks in their early 40's, but watamote is much more for the retards in their mid 20's having a early life crisis feeling emotionally secure and not nostalgia junkies chasing the past. So yeah, any imbecile knows that the art could be dog shit or the greatest thing ever and would make much a difference.

We have been wrong bros, totally wasting time lmao.
You can actually save that page in firefox, in normal way, then just remove fucking .js files from the folder and it reads normally with all images, animated gifs. Unplugged internet to make sure, it loads as it should. I'll try to save it all that way and later to convert those gifs to webms and edit html so it reads those webms instead of gifs. Because this is page based on "client-side rendering", which means that the server doesn't respond to your HTTP request with HTML content, but with a HTML stub containing only a reference to a JS program that the browser later executes to load parts of the HTML on demand.
httrack and wget work by requesting a URL, saving the HTTP response, searching it for links, and repeating the process on the links. They don't execute scripts. So when you ask them to mirror a client-side page, they will do a request, get a bare page with in response, save the bare page and exit. They just fundamentally don't work with this kind of pages.
There's no general way to mirror client-side pages, since their content depends too much on user interaction. What you are forced to do is to open them in a browser, click everything you need to get the HTML to a desired state (where the content you want to save is loaded; in the case of those notion pages you at least want to expand dropdowns with ctrl+alt+t), save the prepared page via the browser menu, and remove the JS. (Otherwise there's a high chance it'll get confused and break the page when you open it offline, since the program was never prepared for that). The result won't have any dynamic functionality, but it should at least have the same content as it did when you saved it.
This is what >>6166978 figured out.

Do you guys know of any good, fairly long, videos on drawing in the anime style, that you don't necessarily have to look at, but merely listen to? I've seen videos for games and studying that kind of tell you good ways of absorbing information and then applying it. I suppose it doesn't have to be /asg/ specific, but this would be my preferred style. I might be asking too much, considering how visual this field is.

Nice work, anon. But you have slightly messed up the image conversion. There were some jpgs in the original files. Your automation didn't skipped the pngs which had a jpg with a similar name (e.g. something_006.png and something_006.jpg), but it still rewrote the name inside the html (from png to jpg). So wherever there was an png jpg pair with the same index, the link supposed to point at the converted version of the first image is pointing to the second image. See example in picrel.

I mostly learned myself through doing a lot of freelance work, but I think I got a lot out of Naoki Saito's videos on making good linework.
One thing I took away was that it was actually OK to not draw all your lines in the longest stroke possible.

It's easier to determine where the line variation when the whole drawing is finished, so ideally you should start with a thin size to your line and very light.

Instead of flicking from intense pressure to thin to generate the line thicknesses, you can "build up" the line by working with the same light touch you had before, but making sure to feather the lines into and on top of each other to darken and thicken it in places. Where those places are is best explained by Naoki's video.
Another thing is that dynamic lineart always has variation in not just size, but texture and/or opacity. For that Kokoro and the drawing I drew in the OP thumbnail I used the Turnip Pen in CSP and ticked the box for Opacity Pressure as well.
You also want to make sure your tablet pressure curves are set in such a way where you can press lightly and get very thin lines and maintain a constant pressure, as well as go to full pressure without having too press too hard.
