Is drawing supposed to be fun?

It can be fun if you want it to be fun, but it can also be painful if you want it to be painful. If you have creative ideas you are passionate about, it can carry you through the akward phase where the things you create don't look as good as you want them to, since you can derive a lot of joy from seeing your ideas come to life. If you don't have any passion for what you are doing and just want to rush your way to being a pro so you can get money and attention, then you may experience a lot of pain when everything you make doesn't live up to your unrealistic expectations, and you can even come here to doompost and bully people who are happy with what they're doing.

i started by hating the procces but continued to have good results , took me about 6 months to fall in love with drawin the figure, anatomy and painting so its up to you

>> No.6149744

oh to clarify I continued cause i wanted to get good results , not that my first drawings where good
they sucked

Only if you have no idea what you're doing. Once you have it becomes pain, unending pain.

>where the things you create don't look as good as you want them to, since you can derive a lot of joy from seeing your ideas come to life.
Nah, doen't work for me this way. The very moment after I get some idea for drawing comes the understanding that I lack the skill to execute it well and even if I try it will look like shit so why even bother.

Nothing that leads to something worthwhile is supposed to be inherently fun.

>> No.6149795

At first is fun
Then you realize you suck and have a lot to learn. At that point stops being fun.
However, the more you learn and the gudder you get, you start having fun again.

no, it's supposed to be satisfying
like having clean dishes after washing them

If it isn't fun then don't do it, genuinely. There are better career paths. If it was once fun and isn't anymore I'd say try to recapture that by drawing and deliberately telling yourself "I'm not going to post this anywhere"

it's all a matter of mindset. once you get past the great filter, drawing itself is very fun.

>> No.6149884

>>6149859
Sounds to me like someone isn't having fun with their pencil. You can project your cope onto other people all you want, but creating things will always make me happy. It's your choice to have a mindset of misery.

Yes.
If you are not having fun then stop drawing boxes and making loomis studies. Go and actually draw something interesting.

>once you get past the great filter, drawing itself is very fun.
What is the "great filter" though?
>also
It's been a while since a draw makes me feel physically hurt. Ouch.

>> No.6150051

>>6150049
the great filter is getting a point to where nothing you make is bad. so like when you hit intermediate. for me nothing i make is bad. I cannot ever set out to make something and it come out different than what I had in mind. next step after that is the second great filter which is to make it so that nothing you make is bad, nothing you make is good, everything you make is great.

Cube grinding is akin to grinding aim maps in counterstrike. Getting gud is part of the fun, and that requires mechanical training
