Thanks anon, what a compliment! I love Takato Yamamoto's works. It's probably just the brush I used though, plus I don't like lineart so I usually just clean up my sketches. Erasing lines is a lot more intuitive than trying to replicate the energy of a sketch line in my opinion, maybe you could try it some time.

Yes he does. He's the Vice President to the White haired guy, Chipp. Chipp is a former drug addict/dealer who goes on the right path after being saved by a ninja. The ninja teaches him ninjutsu and meditation, etc to overcome his addiction. Eventually, his mentor dies and he decides he wants to help others like he was saved so he establishes his own kingdom (in what we know as South Africa) where he becomes president. He meets Answer (the 3 eyed guy) defeats him in a fight and joins him. Did you once enjoy drawing in your life or is it something you always have to force? You could try out some other hobbies if art only brings you frustration, at lest for a while. Or try to keep it simple, maybe ''painting'' isn't your style? Maybe line arts and flat color's is the way? or some other form of stylization, where you could find more enjoyment in exploring.

I love the freedom of drawing. I love thumbnailing, sketching, inking, etc. I find joy in having a blank canvas and just being able to fill it and not having to worry about rendering or fine detail. I'm trying to find a way to simplify painting and make it enjoyable without it feeling like a chore.

But why not stick to the things you enjoy and sharpen your skills in those fields. There's absolutely nothing wrong to only do sketching and inking. Those are already lovely skills to have and you can create amazing art with those alone. Rendering or painting isn't for everyone, unless this is a skill you really want to acquire, then study the digital artwork where you like their rendering and apply it to your own creations. Pick one artwork you really love and study what makes it so appealing to you. Otherwise just follow your own advice and keep it simple, is fine to.
I'm just coming from the angle that if you really hate it and only do it ''because'', then maybe reconsider why you want to do it, in the first place.
Tho I'm not going to stop you from learning, keep fighting the good fight. Envision how you want the end result to look like when you start rendering, that what keeps me motivated. Usually when I render my pieces, I also need to remind myself to keep it simple, and try to block in the colors and limit my pallet to three colors.
