Why exactly does all my work look so bad and everyone elses work looks so good?

>> No.6129507

because you suck?

because people you follow don't post art that sucks. why would you follow them if they did?

You hyper-focus on the good and don't notice the thousands of bad art.

Not true, i join communities with nothing but begs and still, my work looks uninspired and fake while theirs look soulful, even if technically worse than mine theirs still has infinitely more appeal.

Most likely because you triggered all the begtraps /ic/ has to offer. Everything these retards care about is how to draw "correctly". Sure you need a good understanding of fundies, but on the other hand you hardly ever see any discussion about the true spirit of the art. Let me tell you this, what do normies and those discord people you mentioned see first when they look at an art? Is it the perspective and anatomy and all the scary fundies? No, unless there're glaring errors, the first thing they notice is the message a piece of art has to offer. Like when looking at an art they see two characters having fun, so when they draw something with the same idea they try to draw two characters having fun. While people overly obsessed with study would draw with all the poses and anatomy in mind: how to draw correctly, does this look weird, should the eyes be placed there, etc. and soon enough come to forget about the main point of the work, and turn it into just a boring study with no core feeling you wish to translate to other people. All the fundies should be the tools to convey something, but some people take too much time playing around with tools they forget what its true purpose. A good way to it is visualize what you want to draw first in your head, try to make it as impactful as you can before you start drawing

Not OP but this was the case for me.

Recovering from fundies schizophrenia is hard, and fundies schizos often have art that looks sterile and just really off key. And it's like, your fundies aren't even that much better because you draw the same comfort zone shit over and over that deludes you into thinking that you're hot shit. Fundies schizos will often look at expressive, sovlful art, make some snide mental remark like "heh, the vanishing points on that object in the corner aren't perfect", before they move onto more soulless shit nobody cares about. Normies don't like your art, nor do other artists. It's in this weird limbo state where at best you'll get some turbo /beg/ saying "wow I wish I could draw like that", and then 5 months later they wonder why the fuck they even looked up to you.

Just try to approach art without all the /ic/ brainworms for once. Stop posting anything and stop comparing yourself to others, just explore what you actually are trying to achieve with drawing in the first place. Even the more contemporary artists that I like lived in a time where AT BEST you could post on conceptart.org which while critical wasn't as mentally ill as this place, they just drew what they wanted to and thought about fundies after that.

The most important thread on /ic/ right now. I wish there was a guide for soul, but I know it's all about searching inside myself

post you're work.

I'm kinda in a similar spot, I can tell something is really off about my drawings that make them look exceedingly boring, but I can't quite place it.
personally i think its a bit of anatomy/proportions still being off (I have a bad habit of drawing heads too big) and my posing being bad. but things just feel way more off than just that.
