probably like 2/3 of photographs folder is stuff I didn't get by hand but most of the rest is

every time I see an image I like online I download it.. typically not used for anything directly but I go through them from time to time just to look

It's almost like they treat art as a soulless job as any other, putting emphasis on efficiency above all else. If you don't have the urge to draw something nie whenever you see nice drawings from other artists then what's the point of doing art really? No wonder the burn out rate on this board is so high, most of them don't like art in the first place and were just in it for the flair.

I have about 20 GB but it's mostly stuff I downloaded because of FOMO like that croquis cafe archive or things from the Batman mega and art history books which are 300MB each

I used to collect references but after dozens of drawings that fail to be even half as good as the reference, I stopped. Why beat yourself up like that?

Does anyone here use Hydrus Network? Was it worth setting up? I started using it last week and while the tagging can get a bit boring it doesn't seem like it'll take long to pay off, since tags give you more ways to look for things. A lot of nested folders never sat right with me because there's a lot of different categories an image can belong to, and a lot of different reasons you'd want to look for it.
