If she weren't making that ridiculous face I would like this. Why do so many character artists do this? What emotion is this even? What am I supposed to feel here? I'm always trying to be open-minded with this cartoony-real style, but I find myself continually let down by it, finding that these artists want to be taken seriously but aren't willing to take their subjects seriously.

He hasnt imrpoved in years (he is good im just saying he stagnated hard ) while young kids who are hungry to work on big projects got past his level long ago. Hes doing TCG and DnD art but card games dont make as much as they used to when stuff like League and Fortnite is eating away at other games playerbases , thats why you get 1-1,5k for magic card while people making a splash for League make 5k and upwards. He was on top of his game when Magic was the shit in illustration industry but he never moved on with the times. I get it he probably didnt want to grind anymore and wanted to be family man , but even cards for legends of runterra pay around 5k , but you have to be at Sixmorevodka level and he hasnt improved for years otherwise hed be able to get lucrative illustration gigs. So no, big artists get a good payday but you always have to improve because standards are constantly rising, thats what happend when the whole industry has young passionate people who want to break in so they can do their dream job , bar never stop rising. And if youre like him and want to settle down well fuck , passionate kids with no life who grind harder will come and take your lunch.

Art directors in general draw like shit. This isn't bad at all for one. You should see the ones I've had to deal with. Literally just hand you a paper with stick figures and scribbles all over it and have to write what or who the scribbles are supposed to be.
