If you're not good by your early 20's it's over, isn't it? No late 20's /beg/ will ever compete with people who have been drawing their entire lives.

Xeroxing requires patience but it's not hard at all, you can do it at any age with little to no drawing experience.

It’s not a competition anon. Draw if you want to, don’t if you don’t. If your goal is to make money you should have chose basically any other career no matter what your age is

Ok he was wrong to say it’s not hard at all, but it’s still much much easier than creating quality original works.
The point is that there’s nothing particularly impressive or unusual about that progress pic. It’s what you would expect from someone who had been drawing for four years.

In terms of elaborate technical skill, you'll obviously lack behind someone who has dedicated all their life to it.
But having fresh ideas or being unique is generally considered way more important than craftsmanship. Van Gogh started pretty late in his life and he became a widely admired and influencial artist after he dedicated about 10 years of hard work to it.

Learn your fundies, start with Keys to Drawing because you will be doing exactly what OP's pic did in one of the early exercises. It will take longer than 30 minutes to make it as convincing but there are no secret grindy skills required here other than patience and very basic observation knowledge.

Absolutely not so. Keys to drawing is a great book for teaching observational drawing, which is an utterly essential skill for further development. If you say you didn’t learn anything from it after reading it and (I assume!) doing all the exercises, then that’s your own fault and not the book’s desu.

>> No.5239732

>>5239724
I hope you're baiting because failing to understand the book just means that you didn't break out of symbol drawing and didn't understand it at a very basic level.

>draw the rest of the owl
You can draw literally anything from observation if you know what you're supposed to be doing.

>>5239726
These threads only exist because people lack simple knowledge and in /ic/ lack of observation knowledge is the most blatant since so many people have their head stuck up their asses and think they will learn to draw by grinding loomis heads, don't skip steps if you want to learn anything in life.

Because the noise and grime hides mistakes. Drawing a normal white face is much harder because tiny mistakes are more obvious.

I can vouch for the book when it comes to drawing from observation. I started with it 6 months ago and I can make an okay sketch copy from eyesight or an image using contours, but I'm still terrible at basic construction and drawing without a reference.
