Both Wintab and TabPC are interfaces used to translate your tablet strokes into input data. They basically digitize your strokes into whatever drawing program you're using. Wintab is the generic Windows tablet interface while TabPC refers to the newer interface build in the system, which in Windows' case is Windows Ink.

Windows Ink is newer than Wintab, and thus has better stroke stabilization, direction and pressure, but sadly it gets overridden by USB mouse movements, so you have to click out of the program to reset the input. Also, it isn't compatible with older programs like Photoshop CS6 because it's a fairly new interface.
Wintab is very old and has some input lag which results in blocky strokes, but you need it because many programs (legacy and new) only support Wintab, like some versions of PaintTool Sai.

In CSP case, I recommend you to stick to the TabPC (Windows Ink) setting, since it's way more smooth than Wintab.

Do any of you use display adaptors with your tablets? While unpacking the xp 12, I noticed that I only have one hdmi port, and upgrading video cards at this time would probably not be cheap. I could just unplug my monitor every time, but I've decided instead to buy a displayport to hdmi female adaptor. I thought it'd work out better than a dvi to hdmi because the dvi cable is fat

Get a display from a seller that allows returns and try it out for some time. If you like the display keep it, if you don't return it and get a non-display.

I'd say those who do 3d sculpting are the most hard-pressed to believe they need it and that's not really true, they are just in a mindset of spending money == quality because of pc/tech culture. Ah got it. It's up to you, man. But many of us have been in that situation, myself included, sometimes the grass looks greener on the other side but then you realize it's fake when you get there. In my experience, parallax, color inaccuracy, poor ergo, and bad performance aren't things you 'adjust to'. After 3 years, I went back to my intuos3. It takes up less space, my back feels much better, my eyes are less strained since I no longer bounce between two screens (I mean, technically I still have two screens but they're side-by-side and I'm not trying to draw on one lol).

I bought a refurbished Intuos 4S PTK-440 about 9 years ago. I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy this hobby so I gave myself a budget, and that's what I wound up with. Well, I'm still drawing, so I think I deserve an upgrade with a slightly larger budget. I still think that a display may be too expensive for my tastes, but I am open to persuasion. Technically, my budget could allow for a Cintiq. I know some people think if it's something you love, then no amount matters, but man, that's a lot of god damn money.

My current tablet only has 2048 levels of pressure and it's the small version. I was thinking a modest upgrade would be the Intuos Pro M (which is listed in the OP). It'd be a larger surface, two more buttons, and 4x more levels of pressure.

My computer doesn't have Bluetooth. Does it still come with a cable? Should I spend a little more money and get some accessories (I don't even know what's out there, I hardly ever read about this stuff, and I should, but I don't want to be one of these people who obsesses over tech and never fucking draws).

I just bought a xp pen deco 01 V2 and it feels fantastic, especially for it's price. (I got it new for 56 USD online from xp pen official flagship store. I converted my local currency to USD so it may differ somewhat)

It's a great tablet for beginners and on YouTube lots of artists say they prefer it to even their expensive screen tablets. I'm just trying to say that get something you like, that you can afford. Remember that this thread is mostly just the opinions of a few people on a very small part of the internet. Check YouTube reviews for a more realistic view.

Just go with your budget man. I went for an XP pen 15.6 pro because it was within my budget and I was dying for a pen display. After I had a Wacom intuos 3 large and then a Wacom bamboo for a while I knew a small tablet or display wasn't an option for me because the bamboo nearly made me quite because I didn't like the size at all, so picking a "smaller" and "cheaper" cintiq was out of the question.
I like my 15.6 because it does the job, I would probably cream myself on a big Wacom cintiq but I both don't have and won't have the money to spare for that.

Actually, pressure levels do matter, but not in the way you think.
See this shit? It's called a 'shoelace artifact'. This happens because the art software gets confused when there are way too many pressure levels.
The solution? Get a tablet with 1024 pressure levels or less. 1024 levels is actually far more manageable for the software to process than 8k levels or so.

In Photoshop's case, the worthless cunts at Adobe never bothered to fix the shoelace glitch in neither of the CS and CC releases, so the solution for this is to either buy an used 1024-level tablet or just purchasing Lazy Nezumi.

Ironically, this means that old-ass tablets are actually far more useful than the new ones.

Been doing digital for half my life. Went from an ancient bamboo fun, to a cintiq 13hd (hated the bulk), to an intuos pro med (can't get back into after using a screen), to a XP-pen 15.6 (this week).

Loving this shit so far, more than the old wacom anyway. Feels the same to draw on but bigger and comes with a lot of neat stuff. Being able to change brush size with the rocker wheel is niiice. Also cords aren't as bulky and shit.

Here's a proper test. I can't really consider myself a artist at all but there generally is no problems 99% of the time at all. If there is some bad lines is usually because it's my fault or because the brush setting may be weird for what I'm trying to do with it. The problem I can say is that sometimes there is some pretty bad lag after time has passed but I just cleaned up the tablet to lessen all the resources being used like anti-virus programs and shit so it should perform better.

Bros, I'm only new to drawing with a tablet. I've been using firealpaca like pretty much drawing normally, with the default brush, just doing black and white sketches to get the hang of how the tablet feels.

The charger works alright, if you use your tablet a lot you should consider a second battery too. The only thing that sucks about the wacom wireless is thay if its 2.4g, it can and will be intereupted by cell signal or people and pets (or just stuff) between your tablet and the dongle. Sometimes just having your wifi card in or something plugged into the port next to it will make it shut off.

It's weird and it's laggy most of the time on top of that.

For FireAlpaca, your best bet would be the documentation on their website. All the youtube shit for that is teenagers explaining extremely basic stuff like brush size and undo button.

If you're looking for Medibang Paint stuff, Winged Canvas on youtube is a good one that goes through a lot of the functions and shows how to use them.

Really though, any program you want to use has likely got documentation on their website explaining everything the program can do and how to use it.

Can you test it on a different computer? Or even your phone? See if it still misbehaves. If it's still acting fucked, either your pen or tablet is dying. Have you ever dropped them? They're very delicate and easy to break.

I've had one die on me from regular yet gentle use after about a month, so even if you didn't drop it, it doesn't mean it didn't just decide to break.

If you still have some warranty with the place you bought it from or huion themselves, it would be a good idea to ask for a replacement. Try the place you bought it from first. Huion support sucks.

I got the S6 lite. After getting a case that leans back far enough to make drawing comfortable, a glove thick enough to block palm touches, and a bluetooth keypad for hotkeys, this is actually pretty decent for mobile drawing.

krita for android is still very unoptimized for tablets, but the keypad makes it useable once you map all your hotkeys.

When drawing traditional way, the hand always blocks your view of the drawing and sometimes smudges which can be annoying for some people plus back neck and shoulder pain. The pen display is similar your hand is always blocking half of the drawing, don't have to worry about smudges but the back neck and shoulder pain can still develop when hunching over all the time. Some pen displays have a function where you can turn off the screen and work as a traditional pen tablet however, a lot of retarded professional artists don't know or use that feature. You should go for a 4k pro model if you're looking at 22"+ screens. The regular ones don't have good screen resolution, you can see the damn pixels and it's stupid. I believe the styluses have some major differences in function but you should look into it and make sure. Pull up both of those models side by side and compare the specs and capabilities.

If your system has a dedicated GPU then you should be using those ports and not your motherboard’s ports. The ports on the motherboard are tied to the onboard gpu found on most but not all cpus. If you have an onboard GPU then (unless the gpu is much older than the cpu) it is going to be vastly superior to the onboard graphics on your cpu. Yeah tried it out, it was disabled by default, found a solution to enable it again in the bios.
Gonna plug my main monitor and the Tablet into the GPU ports then and the second monitor in the onboard graphics port, nothing important is happening on that monitor anyway.
Should be the best solution if I don't want to unplug one of my monitors everytime I want to use the tablet, just hope having the dedicated GPU and the onboard graphics enabled at the same time isn't going to cause some horrible software gore in the background.

yeah i actually got really surprised that the nibs last a very long time, i have an 2014 model and, i just put one simple screen protector, it lasted like 4 years, then i just started using it without one, and yes they are an amount of little lines in the screen, but i dont even can call them "scratches", because they dont affect at all the surface of the screen.

Never used an Intuous so I can't really help you there, though I don't think the 12WX would fell much different (I think it's only the newer ones that have the special grained glass).
Thinking about it though you do also need to be warned that:
a) it's DVI/VGA so if you're on a newer PC you'll need to get converters
b) its resolution is 1280x800, so probably smaller than what you're used to

Honestly, ymmv with it, but given that they're all pretty cheap at the $150~300 mark nowadays it could be a good place to dip your toe in and test the waters.

Got the opportunity to try out the xp-pen 15.6, and have to say I'm having none of the issues apart from tilt.
Pressure is consistent although it took a little fiddling to make it register light pressure in a way that feels natural.
Cursor doesn't stray from pen tip, at least not noticeably.
No line wobble with either slow or quick strokes, especially not with a ruler.

Having the same issue with the pen tilt though.
It's the same as in the video, whenever it get's close to the horizontal or vertical axis it jumps.
