How long would it usually take to master anatomy so I can start painting?

>> No.5220633

about 5 months

>>5220629
Nobody masters anatomy. Paint now or paint never.

this. but you'd have to dedicate everyday to drawing figures. and i mean everyday. 3 hours.

learn as you go, you won't master it before painting and you definitely won't master it in 5 months like the cracksmoker up there is implying

yes you can. go to art college. i've seen people with zero talent, walk out after 6 months with insane progress. anatomy is all copying/reference.easy.

paint already

just start studying the hell out of them. copy them. don't trace. watch some Gurney videos and how he works from thumbnail to finish. It's not hard to establish the process. JUst gotta practice.

>thumb nails
>rough sketch
>trace over
>make crucial adjustments before you commit
> add colors
>finish up touches
>one last look
>finish it

Learn about chiaroscuro. Take a classical approach to learning. Go in the big mega and do the whole of the watts curriculum including homework. You need to learn light, colour, perspective, anatomy for humans and animals, drapery, composition and a great deal many other things if you wish to construct entirely original works. The fastest approach would be learning to draw from reference and drawing the figure a shit load then focusing heavily on rendering

>>5220756
ps this is likely going to take you decades but you will be able to not completely suck within a few years with commitment. Don’t expect to be busting out masterpieces any time soon though

Did you learn construction, gesture, light & shadow yet?

but first learn
1st - Perspective aka Construction/Form(If you put dedication you can master in 150h-250h)
If you know perspective, learning to shade will be too easy
2nd - Figure Drawing(You need to know perspective for the mannequin)
3rd - Anatomy
Otherwise it's a waste of time

This isn't a simple, but a stupid question
Got talent?
Got time?
Got will?
Got dedication?

Just a few success factors...

Shading has about 80% more to do with light than it has with perspective. You can fuck up perspective with shady shading but simplifying it to this level is ... odd, to say the least

he means forms you absolute retard. light is all about form, if you know the form and can cross contour it perfectly then placing form and cast shadows becomes trivial. god

You don't need to master anatomy to paint. It would be useful to get down the rudiments like proportions, basic insertions, and landmarks. Unless you want to become a hardcore anatomist, you don't need to get anything close to mastering anatomy.
