For a single image i will manually crop to 16:9 for just the part i want. For 2 images it is 7:8 or something.

Portrait orientation photos suck, so i usually do 2 images to get 7:8 and pick a close up and the full image. You can always bump your thread by adding more snapshots of the drawing if you dont like your crop.

Sometimes i don’t care and i want to see how it crops then i make a snarky comment about it.

In general, social media is typically geared towards a mindset of "what do I get out of this?" Even friendly artists aren't really willing to go out of the way to do collabs and trades and raffles with strangers that can't offer them much, if any, reward for it.

A better place to look is communities specifically geared towards that kind of stuff. Art discords of a similar skill level to you, communities based around a specific 'teacher' artist like Moderndayjames, Marc Brunet, Boro, or whoever the youtube flavor of the month is now. They can be legitimately fun to be in as well, and can nab you a little social media networking if you're looking for that.

If you're good enough, then one thing to do is art raffles every time you hit the next hundred. Another thing is just make posts asking if people want to do art trades. You need to catch attention of people in the 1k to 20k range though for it to get you momentum. Follow some people, and like their art. People in that range are likeliest to notice (obviously anyone below 1k as well) compared to people with big followings.

I’ve only been on deviant art for what? A year maybe? And it boils down to spamming your stuff in as many groups as you humanly can. Now some groups can only accept one submission per day, some 2, 4 and so on. Most groups are solely dedicated to this, and most end up drowned by the sheer amount of stuff posted, were talking thousands of pieces a day. You might get noticed though, because these groups are really active and they will feature you if your stuff is good (happened to me a few times). There are some really good groups too run by crazy good people, ones a remake of a punch magazine and they have monthly issues and all that, got a few drawings accepted.

Tl;dr Join a lot of groups, spam your work, try to post often, notify your watchers when you post new stuff, organize your gallery

You draw something, people who follow you like or retweet it which puts it onto the dash of people they follow. And so on and so on. Eventually it snowballs. Breaking 300 is fucking rough. But once you're past that they just kind of roll in pretty easily if you keep posting consistently.

Since I'm here already though I will add that hashtags and events are a great way to supplement organic attention. Participate in a bigger artist's "Draw This In Your Style" thing and give them free fanart in exchange for some exposure. Or hit up the flavor of the month art themes like this "Sketch vs painting" stuff going on now, or the "blue art" week that was popular a while back. Stuff like that. You just need to be on the lookout and respond quick.

you are though, drawing faster isn't exactly improvement if you're still making the same mistakes. drawing faster matters in the right areas but here... your colors havent improved, your compositions havent improved, you are drawing the same level of sketchy pin up shit that isn't even finished, you don't have goals beyond the point of just doing commissions or work you have put up on patreon. your art has no end game and easily forgotten in the pile of coom art that is abundant. you are simply just suffering from making art a job, and you will be stuck in this situation because you cant suddenly change your art or people will start to question you. that is the problem with commissions and providing content, people want what they see and if you go on a tangent you will confuse people, so its better to be predictable.

You are absolutely correct. A big part of why I love my job is the reception I get from my clients and fans. Creating something that makes others happy gives me much more satisfaction than money.
I worked as a concept artist for game dev for years, and being a cog in the industry never made me as happy as I am now that I'm doing smaller commissions for individuals.

I disagree. With all due respect, your compsitions and backgrounds have deteriorated ever since you resigned to pushing out assembly-line sketches, and your shading is becoming lazier and lazier. If you are still in contact with that colorist you hired a while back, hit him or her up, because that person was able to bring a flair to your work that you desperately need.
