Does this look fine perspective-wise?
I'm having troubles connecting the legs to the hips, they feel like floating, I don't know why. Ofc, I can just hide the legs behind the box, but I decided to take a little jump.
The anatomy might not be 100% accurate, but I just want passable anatomy. The head is big intentionally and, yeah, the hand is a different beast I wanna tackle later, so I just drew little bones as an indicator. I'm tired, I came back from work. Use a sharper brush for the highlights on the head. I think a watercolor brush would work best. Look at the eyes. You see that shadow? Use that same amount of value on the other parts of the head. At a gradient to the background too.

I feel like the bottom 1/3rd of the robe is close to being good yet something is off.

Not sure if this is a unique problem but I've been caught in the loop of studying for so long that I find it extremely difficult to break free and "just draw", nothing I do is for fun and when I try my work ends up being soulless and sloppy.

I usually just go on /v/, /aco/ or any place with a drawthread that tolerates you not drawing anime, and take the first request that isn't absurdly difficult or clearly made by a degenerate coomer every few days.

I feel it's not up to the artist to judge whether a piece is good or soulful. Sure, you can tell where and if you fucked up, that the anatomy is off, the background's perspective is shit and the colors are weird, but beauty and soul are subjective and depend on the unwashed masses.

You're probably getting tunnel vision after grinding too much and only looking at good art, hit deviantart every now and then. Or some books about philosophy to stop giving a shit, I think Kirkegaard has art figured out somewhere.

Pic related is something like the third biggest western comic on Webtoon. The author makes literal millions and there's a rumour saying she's getting a cartoon adaptation in a year or two. Yet if she ever posted on /beg/ she'd still be grinding Loomis, getting shit on for symbol drawing and such.

First really attempt at colouring that was more ambitious than just filling in flats. Even if it's still just basically cell shading at this point but that's fine at the moment.

I need to pay more attention to my forms and lighting and to actually study rendering metal.

Left leg of giant knee and below. Thigh is straight but knee bends sideways at joint, plus the arch of the leg is too much to the right. Not really, there's still clearly some brush strokes evident on the road and the lower buildings and it doesn't really line up really with the any photos of city lines 100%.. I did reference one pretty heavily but I ended up removing and adding a lot of buildings in various places

You need to really study the shapes and planes of the features and internalise them. Youre symbol drawing because youre drawing what you assume an eye looks like, rather than the 3d forms that make up the eye. Your side view makes no sense, you cant poke the side of your head and touch your eyeball, but your profile view that would be the case.

hip/thigh area looks pretty good, although the leftmost leg shouldn't connect to the midsection so smoothly, a bit more of a divot would look right.
her left breast appears higher and smaller than the other. also yeah, the neck currently connects too far forward, almost like it touches the chin directly.

I started with loomis 2.5 months ago or so.

Figure Drawing and All Its Worth or whatever it is called. I grinded out mannequin frames a lot until I could mentally rotate them in my mind, then I started to add muscle.

While adding muscle to the frames, I would on my own time look up anatomy and study it so I'd understand what connects to where and how. Now I'm drawing from online live poses more and more while I continue to study anatomy.

I've also gotten into his Head & Hand book. It's breddy gud but I haven't put as much effort into it as I have with figures.

beg here, if I was start today I would start with draw a box since it train your dexterity which I think is the most fundamental skill. fwap does it too but in a much shallow way, it is a good introduction to the figure, so I do it after dab.
