Just wanted to add that there is a good way to translate books for yourself in real time.

1. Use an OCR scanning program such as Adobe reader (There might be others but I haven't tried them).

2. Let the program recognize the books text which usually takes like 5 minutes or so.

3. Use a program like QTranslate to translate the words that were detected by the OCR in real time.

I've done this and have had almost no issues. The program QT translate even offers several translation websites in case you want to try Bing, Google translate, yandex, etc.

I haven't seen anyone else recommend this information, so I'm guessing not many people know.

Just got Dongho Kim's book in the mail. Kind of a disappointment at 35 bucks - it seems suited for inuitive/higher intermediate artists who've never picked up Scott Robertson's books or Framed Perspective, but I was hoping for something a little different considering Superani has their own twists on figure drawing. You might as well just learn from Robertson's stuff then. Book's got nice example art though.

Anymore books like the Magna Poses? I find these really neat.

If we're talking about actually learning how to draw figures in a repeatable and efficient way Rockhe's anatomy book is much more helpful. There's no English translation for it though. Stonehouse's book is good for high level artists that want to add more realism to their figures but the average /int/ or /beg/ will buy the book, read a few chapters and feel smart, but ultimately end up stuck with no no idea how to apply any of the book to their studies.

The problem is that the book is *way* too big for the platten on my scanner. It's like a coffe-table book, but mewant for the kind of people who don't have coffee tables.

A lot of the images inside are splashed across two pages. The best I'd be able to do is take pictures and paste them into a collection.

Where did you hear that? It's true that if you place objects too far from the VP they get distorted, but it's still in 1VP. Also same type of distortion happens in two point perspective.
In many schools of art and design they literally teach you not to place the VP in middle of the image because it gives the image central symmetry which makes it look stale and boring.

Ehhh every book like that has padding. The anatomy breakdowns are pretty great though, you can get the same info with 3D anatomy atlases but drawings are much more clear and he shows muscle movement mechanics and does some very nice visual explanations.

Fuck this shit, I'm slowly piecing together my own shitty Bernard Fuchs artbook.
One of the main issues is that most of the images online are abysmal quality, and will lack the resolution when it comes to printing. Upscaling, restoring, and color correcting whatever I can find.
Not a designer and it probably shows in the layouts but fuck, just something physical is better than nothing.

That particular publisher has done reprints of their other limited runs before (Dean Cornwell) so here's hoping..

I also see several copies of a Japanese Bernie Fuchs book.
Wish there was more information available, since though Bernie's work is solid overall, I mostly prefer his lifestyle/editorial illustration over his landscapes, sports, presidential, etc.
