How the fuck one draws and paints deep forest vegetation properly, mate? There are too many bloody branches and leaves and shit on the ground to make it believable!!!

just look at art you like and analyze them. how clearly they are painted really depends on the other parts of the painting. people in the past have painted nature with leaves individually painted except for the ones farther in the distance, and it looks right for the manner of their work. the flora in leonardo's paintings would be against the recommendations of most artist after the impressionists.

squinting (almost closing your eyes so that your eyelashes cross and blur what you see) helps you get the values from a picture
you can guess some things from just turning the image to grayscale and posterizing it, this is 5 levels, you can see that there's a bit diamond shape of light in the middle where the orc waifu stands, the harpies are in a very classic pyramid composition and everything else is a frame with a few lighter trees to break it up.
I really love this series btw, one of the few things I liked in the last years

examine the layering method and think how best to do it. it seems some brushes were used for texture while another was used for defined leaves here and there of autumn colors with two maybe three similar colors in each leaf with the lit parts more saturated.
