okay laddies, today, im gonna show you how to turn an otherwise useless thread, into something interesting.

Step 1 - open a canvas with the golden ratio proportions, thats a canvas where the Length is 1 : 1.61 proportional to the width.

You can find any pixel size by just multiplying/dividing some number, like 777px, by 1.61 which will give you 486px.
777px x 486px is a personally favorite of mine. But hey since it's 2021, lets do 1264px by 2021px.

That sounds neat huh?

Now, let's take a closer look at our source material >>5168236

>> No.5168270

So now I've got my source material open and a scaled version of the Kabbalah tree of life (from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tree_of_life_(Kabbalah)#/media/File:Tree_of_life_bahir_Hebrew.svg) into our golden ratio canvas, which, as you will see shortly, is the key to drawing an unnaturally thicc woman with huge tits and ass.

I've also got a 100% pink screen layer, 25% orange multiply layer, the image of the kabbalah tree (which I've made the white transparent easily with edit>convert brightness to opacity) and a 100% totally middle grey layer underneath it all.

Seems weird right? It will all connect shortly.

5168280

Now I've created a new layer called SKETCH and made it blue for easier recognition (which can be done with the box to the left of the world normal in the layers box)

I've also decided to further push down the opacity of the kabbalah tree down to 25%.

My pen of choice, will be a hard round based G-pen that will probably vary in size but the key points that enable a good line are 1) sharp angles setting is enabled 2) stabilization is 100% 3) stabilize by speed is off 4) tilt is completely unused 5) settings of pen pressure are pulled down until you have a circle with two tails coming out of it like in the picture.

5168293

Now on the blue SKETCH layer, we are going to use a full black color to draw, which because it is under the orange 25% multiply layer and 100% pink screen layer, it is going to come out, a "process red color", thats the color we want anyways for maximum appeal.

I'm going to first draw a vertical line like you do when you do the 8 heads tall figure measurement like in loomis.

Next I'm going to wrap the head of our character around the top circle of the tree, and not really worry if it's 1/8 the head size or shit, we aren't worried about the head size or valid proportions, we just want HUGE tits and ass.

5168301

Next, I'm going to draw eyes that look like the letter ה in hebrew. Doesn't that letter look like a little anime eye?

<(ה.ה)> < ---- elvish gal looking to the side

and a mouth, and some ears, and a nose.

5168311

Now I'm going to start drawing with PURE WHITE on the grey layer, which will turn out an off white color thanks to the orange multiply.

I'm going to also add a drop shadow on the neck and head intersection, which gives our light source.

Then I'm going to outline the head, because of whitelining (vilppu talks about this) which shows an objects edge overlap and is 100% real and happens in reality, (stare at the edge of any object, you should notice a slight blur outline hovering around where two objects intersect)

Now this part is weird, but bear with me, ok So IMAGINE that below the collarbone, or hell do it yourself, clasp your hands together and press them against your sternum, now look in a mirror, got that memorized? you're going to basically draw that same clasped hand thingy but instead the "elbows" are going to wrap around two circles like in the picture.

Now these rules, I learned from pixel art:

1) Dark blue, especially when half opacity'd with the process red makes an excellent substitute for black.

2) reuse colors AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, if you can use the same red in the hair outline in the skin, do it. You want to minimize the end result of colors, not have thousands of shades, which just just looks overdone and messy. You want clean, crisp, vibrant in color forms that all overlap nicely with good color harmony. which brings me to my next point

3)Have you noticed I don't fuck with the opacity of the brush at all? I always use 100% but instead change the opacity of the layers to 50% for example if I want a thinner brush. This creates consistency and you know to select the same pure black and that you're on a 50% layer opacity rather than create dozens of extra shades by fucking with opacity of the brush setting.

>> No.5168600

5168600

Everything at this point, is just the following: Eyedrop the colors you've already used, create layers with 100% opacity if you want that color to continue as is, and shade with pure black 50% or even 25% opacity layers.

and then just clean up, clean up, clean up all your lines and forms.

This is the part where you can have some fun, just drop a color somewhere and see if it looks good, if it doesn't; just undo.

Remember, in color, you want an overarching principle color (loomis goes into this in creative illustration) in our case its the pinkish and yellowish tones, and you want everything else to stem from that, and be present in multiple places.

if for example, i decided to add a roof of a building in the background, i would consider using the girls hair (orange) for the roof color and maybe her skin tone for the wall colors. REUSE colors almost to a stupid level.

5168622

If for whatever reason, I decide I'm straying too far from the original reference in color, I can just scoop up and color pick the original references color hair, but put it on top of all my colors at 50% opacity. (which i have done, i made the hair more closer to the original) This creates a harmony where you can follow any kind of references color, but you still get that pleasing color harmony amongst your own chosen palette.

again, im reusing color as much as possible, the off white yellowish color, im using it in the skin, in the hairband, i could even go so far to use it in the cherries in her hair, or hell the leaves in hair, it just takes practice and experimentation and judgement of "oh ok that looks pleasant and natural" versus "eww ugly why would i ever put those two colors together"

and just more 50% layers over and over again, color picking, we're using our lack of confidence to our advantage, I really don't know how this picture is going to turn out (good news for you fellow autists that can't imagine well) and thus we play it safe and just keep adding layers upon layers. if we get the lame overlay of shades we don't like, you know the one i'm talking about, we're its like 50% too bright and you don't want it there, you just color pick the level you want and set a new layer at 100% opacity and draw over the parts you don't want.

Now at this point, I'm 100% certain the more seasoned pros are looking at me like "Boxman, 36 layers? really? how the fuck are you going to find your original lineart if you need to edit it?"

Well this is where I'll give my philosophy on layers, obviously don't just create a stupid amount of 50% opacity layers, but also don't waste time thinking "Gee could I save a layer or two? " why? it's not a finite resource (unless your cpu sucks or something) and yes, technically I really do need every single layer of those 36 layers to complete my picture and occassionally i find myself just clicking through layer visibility icons of little eyes trying to find THAT DAMN SKIN TONE LAYER or whatever, but in general, I just make a new layer whenever it's needed or I just feel like it. No need to create a separate skin tone layer, rather, the combination of the two colors i picked, the multiply 25% orange and pink 100% screen and 100% middle grey (which you add black and white to) creates the skin tone by subtraction. or inclusion. or whatever, by elimination! you get it !

No seriously any thoughts on the drawing in my original post?

>> No.5168842

>>5168836

my thoughts? what were your intentions dear, because despite the good color choices, and good design taste, i'm afraid your anatomy and formal knowledge is a tad lacking.

Do you have a reference of the kind of level of art you wish to achieve?

I'm sorry I hijacked your thead.

>> No.5168845

>>5168842
Don’t be sorry about it. At least you tried.

Now what about the original design do you think I should change?

>> No.5168858

>>5168845

The design is fine, i can tell you have good taste, you just need to work on learning how to shade, anatomy, lighting perspective, how to create a environment, and how to do all that while making it look pleasant.

I'm 28 years old and have been drawing since I was about 5. Now I'm afraid to ask your age, since I assume you're a lady and could possibly be underage, so I will instead ask how many years have you been drawing, and how many years of your life are you willing to commit to studying and is art the no 1 thing you care about above everything else, ie, is it your passion, your main mode of expression, aka how you make sense of the world.?

>> No.5168869

>>5168858
Well I was planning to do shading and background on it. But I haven’t even started yet so I can’t show.

For starters, you should post in the designated /beg/ thread for beginners instead of creating a new thread for your own picture - it’s part of the local etiquette.

I'll bite. You know how sometimes it's so hard to pick the perfect shade and it just looks off? Yeah, we live in the future. Pantone exists. Their site is full of color harmony porn. They have a Case Studies section on their site that's good reading, too, but that's totally unrelated to this. Basically, your colors clash and not in a good way, but you had the right idea. Just tweak it.

Anatomy needs a lot of work, but I'm not about to roast you on something you already know.

I think design-wise, this could be cute but the socks should be stocks or thigh highs, or if you're going knee highs, the skirt should be shorter. Cuts the legs off otherwise. Would you be offended if I did a redraw?

I don't they would be offended if you did a redraw. Seeing your design in another person's style is a high on its own anyways.

Figure I might as well finish this drawing since NOW everybody, PageEmp, knows to use the /beg/ thread >>5168786 instead of making their own thread : )

the point of the box was i was going to say how you should just memorize how to shade the following scene and use it as a go to for shading box forms when you have nothing else
