Think about it this way, the whole concept is good, you have place to share your art and get actually good crits without being called dogshit. Yeah it's owned by a corp who sell your data and want the worst for you but overall I think it's better to be on a good server, I improved a lot, much more than if I were just to rely on /ic/ itself

Matrix is promising, but the overall speed and user comfort (having to install another app) seems like a downside that far outweighs the benefit of simply using open sauce. Also chances of random people finding your server are basically zero and you can't screenshare in video call as far as I know, which is pretty vital for an art server.

When there's very little nsfw content, politics aren't discussed and lolifags get the ban hammer, there's no real reason to use Matrix over Discord that I know of.
