This board has to be one big joke, right? I cannot accept that there are people out there sketching for 8 hours a day everyday. I swear I must be in a fever dream or something. Can someone please help me understand what the goal of sketching for so long is?

I don’t think people on this board sketch for 8 hours. And that’s perfectly doable if you enjoy drawing that much

The reason is because most of the faggots in this board are too afraid to leave their comfort zone and all they do is just that sketch and nothing beyond past that point and try to justify the inability to complete a piece by claiming they sketch for hours on end as if it means anything.

You’re right, people don’t sketch 8 hours a day here. They sketch 12 hours a day which is the key to gitting gud. Any less than that and you’re ngmi

This makes some sense, most dead artists don't have 500 pages of sketches they made in the span of 3 years. Do you think youtubers caused this craze? because I think they're really the only ones who show off how many pages of sketches they draw.

I don’t see the problem with this, though. I enjoy filling up sketchbooks filled with things that I study or just enjoy drawing. I make pieces sometimes but never something I’m spending weeks on. I just prefer the artistic approach of making a lot of art

You should lookup FZD, these hours are very real. Also if you expect yourself to go pro one day, you'll be expected to work AT LEAST 40 hours a week which means drawing AT LEAST 8 hours a business day

Nobody here sketches for 8 hours everyday. Not even the pro artists that lurk on here.

yes they do, actually look at how many works we have from artists that were recent enough to have their sketches survive
even van gogh left over a thousand surviving sketches

You think through what you are doing, you tackle the subject at hand, and by solving small problems you slowly build your skillset.

I drew 4 hours today. And today was a lazy day.

I want to be a professional, so I’m treating it like a job. It’s a lotta fun too, and the more I draw the quicker I improve. There really isn’t anything else I would rather do, it’s all a waste of time
