Anime is one of the hardest styles

The head is some weird fucked shit that’s super hard from all angles. The body is just realism. It’s if realism wasn’t hard enough and they had to make it harder by changing the head.

Like other anons said it's mostly the faces that are a turn off. The body can be as accurate, dynamic and well rendered as possible but the face looks like >>5132241 says and it's a jarring disconnect.
Any anime (or just Japanese in general) work where the body and face match are good. A popular example is Eiichiro Oda, whose cartooning style I love in general.

can you fucking not. this certainly is a case by case basis for each artists. someone who doesnt know how to draw nose will revel that they can draw it as a dot or whatever in the so called anime style. if you have the knowledge and foundation what's wrong with simplifying to fit the stylisation.

That's what I said, but the fact of the matter is that most artists working in an anime style do it in a very flat way, and being able to easily fit into that umbrella is very appealing to unskilled artists who use it as a "that's just my style" excuse, and that creates a valid negative stereotype about the whole culture

might be biased since im a dxd fan. i like the op pic. im gonna take a wild guess the picture is taken by deviantart autist from official source and slapped it with his watermark.

the drawing with its cel shading is pretty doable(?) or fitting for a still card, it is drawn with slightly more detail say from a typical frame from the show while still having that consistency, hence you could say why use of the cel shading. i say it is well drawn too.

although as you know anime frame is also/sometimes very detailed at the cost of the framerate or whatever im not an expert
