I gave up trying to sizable following there and moved to pixiv where I managed to get atleast 100 followers after a week of pumping out material. Could have more, but had to stop and wageslave which takes up most of my time now.

The beginning was hard but I kept drawing girls from old kyoani shows and a cool artist within the fandom kept retweeting my stuff.
I never begged anyone nor did art trades. Drawing a MHA girl every now or then helped me amass followers once I got the ball rolling.
I once saw one dude with 500 followers for 7 years get 15k followers in a month because his drawings went viral. Sometimes you get lucky.

I'm not even joking. When tumblr drove off all their artists, I went to Twitter and saw little interaction with my art. Most of them came from my FA account (Used it as a backup for my art)

One day I decided to post a fat furry art on my twitter and it got 200 Retweets and over 100 likes. All I did was hashtag furry and it got popular....

So ya just do flavor of the week and furry art and you're good.
