I mean, I just honestly don't think it's useful for anyone, and /beg/s to spend so much time grinding. I get someone like Reload spending a considerable amount of time drawing every day because all those hours actually matter when he's actually working to make finished, presentable work (And even he is pretty far from the top-scorers in houses). But when you're just studying for it's own sake you'll see diminishing returns pretty quickly, especially when people comfort-zone studies without trying to apply them to anything. I don't think this is the correct way to build the perfect shadow.
Shadow cannot start from the point where the sphere touches the ground. It would be very close if the light source low. If you move the light to infinity, you should end up with a circle under the sphere, but with your method it will be a line.
I think core shadow that you found is a path to victory. You just need to find the projection of this core shadow from the light source on ground.

I used a similar method to the core shadow, to get the cast shadow. Because the core shadow wraps around the sphere, you can create points to cast from by halving it vertically and horizontally. The core shadow creates the terminator points.

Vertically and horizontally in the pic related. To find the base of those points you use the cube's perspective points. Because the ellipses' points will always be at the end it makes it quite simple as you can just land them on the faces of the cube in relation the face. But I think if you want to be even more accurate, you find spheres inner ellipse that corresponds to the perspective, and then you move the whole thing down to fit in the cube's bottom plane order to get more accurate points for the light angle.

thanks for the replies it helps me feel less lonely. this is the loop in my head, endless. I'll break out and get work done, very rarely, and one tiny hiccup, a bit of criticism or misstep and I get so sensitive and sabotage myself. There shouldn't be fear of failure because it doesn't exist in art. Sure you might fail to meet a deadline or some shit but I don't classify that as a failure in art. Then construct your ball. Put sticks that reach from ground plane to the terminator. Cast shadows from them. Then connect the dots and congratulations! you have your cast shadow from a sphere.

1. Number of dads is increasing. In September we had 6 pages of users; now we have 8. I know that, because I regularly check to add new dads to my list.
2. Dads die all the time. So far I've featured 140 dads and I wouldn't be surprised if 30-40% of them were already completely dead (though I didn't actually count). Userbase changed quite a bit since dad started.

If a guy is standing at sunset, his shadow is going to be long whether you're an ant viewing from the ground or a bird overhead. I dont fucking know why. Its only with coom art. Ive drawn WAY worse stuff (fundamentally, subject wise, etc) that was SFW and didnt even feel at all bad, even if i knew it was bad. But for some reason just this specifically changes my thoughts on it too quickly.
Its not even like I dont enjoy drawing this, its fun as hell. Its hard, youre trying to make something that looks right and is also coomable. And people tend to be happy with it as long as its not a mess of lines and garbage
Why is this the case? Is it because its for my weird niche fetish (shortstacks). Do my ethics subconsciously not agree with what I'm doing? Am I just retarded or confused? Its not even that I think what i drew was bad, or cringy, or embarassing, but just "wrong". And I dont even know what "wrong" means. But I still wanna keep drawing this type of stuff from time to time.

Drawing naked bodies makes the weaknesses in your understand of form, perspective and anatomy (not to mention style and "appeal") are on display the most. It's also good practice for all of those things. Why do you think live drawing sessions draw nude models? Because it's difficult and really good and important practice. The answer to every question in art is always "keep drawing" just with different coats of paint.
You will indeed feel like less shit as your stuff gets better if you learn to notice /when/ your art gets better.
If you're always looking at what you've done and compare it to what you wish it were, you won't be happy with it. It might drive you forward, but the art itself won't make you happy.
Learn to be happy with the small improvements you make, and for gods sake just keep on drawing.

Thank you. I spent about 2 months of non-stop grinding for about 8-10 hours a day. Loomis, Vlippu, Charles Bargue, Dyanmic sketching, all that shit. But I realized a few weeks ago with the opinion of a friend that If I just do only just studies Im not really having fun, im working a 2nd job, and not really trying to product "art". So now I try do a healthy amount of imagination stuff with an hour or 2 of studies on subjects I am lacking in. Im enjoying it much more then before
