Manpower and resources are not limitless, spending it on one thing means you are not spending that particular thing on something else.
Using finite resources on wild goose chases absolutely is waste and keeps more from being used elsewhere.
Let use murder, if the police spent their manpower and it is more limited than people realize, investigating random fiction that involves murder as a way to find murders, it would absolutely be wasted and make it harder to catch actual murderers, same thing.
When people use money and manpower on cartoons, that is manpower and money that could have been used following leads of real people.

TLDR; 6 years

The three years before the pandemic were used studying animation, ToonBoom and Maya in various classes which ended up being more puppeteering than raw drawing skills, unfortunately. Coming out of it I wanted to get back to actually drawing and I'm spending the lockdown time, being non-essential/highrisk, trying to regain some of that time. 90% of lockdown I drawing 8 hours minimum everyday even when it sucked with the 10% being heath and family.

I didn't use my time or my past opportunities to the fullest in between being younger/depression; Pic related will be a year ago in March. If you have the opportunity of being NEET don't pass it by, you can make something happen much, much faster, but I think we're all doomed to go though some lull of progress where we either quit or find the determination to make it happen. You guys can do it, much faster than me.

I agree. I use Timer-chan, but any timer that actually only counts up the time the program is focused or actually drawing helps hold you accountable. If you're in front of your PC for 10 hours and you see your actual work time is only 2, it really lights a fire under your ass. Eventually become sensitive to things that aren't contributing to drawing. Its really easy browsing for podcasts, checking notifications and socials to feel like you spent an hour, but it was really 5 minutes.

Being accountable for your time and focused studies will be extremely helpful, but you have to be able to discipline yourself because no one can do it for you. What was useful to me, but might not work for everyone, was I would target specifically what I'm struggling with and sort of go though a cycle.

-Tutorial/book on my target
-Follow to the best of my abilities exactly what they're doing
-Make corrections, this is extremely important when making a study of a tutorial. The answer is right in front of you, do it to the best of your ability, within reason. Don't say you'll correct it next time because you'll end up making the same mistakes; I wasted a lot of time doing this and regret it.
-Apply what I just learned to something new and my own from scratch, this help solidify what you just learned.
-Critique your work. On your own you have to be able to self critique. What did you do well on, what did you struggle with and actively work to bring up your shortcomings.
-repeat

For instance someone commented on my arms earlier. Its one of my sub goals currently and I'm actively studying arms and the twist of the forearm so I tend to go overboard with it sometimes.

I definitely know what you mean, I think my stuff got more stiff and angular as I tried to work in perspective studies for more solid drawings. The information that's in there is nice and its good you are aware of them. I particularly like you have the small line to imply the adductors. Knowing them will help you later, drawing lolis and women in general requires a balance between directly stated information and implied forms. The more info you add to a female ages them and since we're going for pretty youthful characters it might benefit you to start thinking about it. Also, draw the hands and feet if they're in your image; it has to suck before it can get better. Its more beneficial if you attempt them and it looks bad than to hide them and not try at all.
