Art is one of the few things where women can compete with men. The visual arts, writing, and music all have plenty of women for this reason. They aren't strong, smart, or assertive enough to compete in the normal rat race of life, they leave that to men. Note that this is also true of some men as well. Weaker men elect out and go for more feminine fields as well. The theater fags exist for a reason.
