Why is clip studios brush engine so inferior to other programs when it comes to painting? I can't find anything that works as well as photoshop or even sai equivalents

It feels like you're a crab who can't paint at all and then blame the engine. It's a software dedicated to making manga first of all, so the default things are designed for lineart. Get better and stop poisoning the board with your useless crab opinions.

you’re not allowed to insult csp, it is the default /ic/ software, not as weeb as sai, but weeb enough and packed with crutches like stabilizer, 3d models, auto gradient generation and self mixing brushes
no one actually paints in it and if they do it’s too shit to post, which is why no one ever posted a good painting instead of falling into a hysterical shitposting spree to defend the honor of their chosen application when faced with criticism of the software

CSP is the finest program considering its 25$ for life. The only issue is brushes lagging at big size if they're overly complex/low spacing/watercolor edged. Also a lot of professionals use it too. The only thing I miss from PS is the offset

It's telling that Dave still primarily uses photoshop for painting. He has also experimented with procreate for professional work though to use that as an example that plenty of pros paint professionally in it would be disingenuous. A good artist can make professional shit using any software and CSP is pretty good but their brush lag is an absolute deal breaker and to suggest otherwise is pure delusion.

Probably still needs it for effects, processing, editing, and dealing with clients. The painting doesn't look much like his recent work. It's best to use each tool for what they're good at. I do 99% of my work in CSP but still go through PS for input if I'm scanning/taken from photos and maybe post processing.

Exactly, look at that tiny ass brush size and think about whether or not it's even feasible to paint on a 10000x10000 canvas. It's not. It's a glorified coloured pencil drawing at this stage with some lineart fills
