We should add a rule that requires people who say "post your work" to post their own work in the same message.

Seething /beg/s.

It shouldn't be required, but it is common sense to avoid bold suggestions unless the anon proves he knows his shit.

99% of pyw posts are literally just seething and attempts to protect the poster’s ego, which is exactly why they never post their own and never will, yet demand the other guy exposes theirs for attack

>> No.5069668

I don't even understand the logic behind the whole "pyw" meme. Like, you don't need to be master to look at a picture and say "yeah, that eye is kinda fucked up maybe try working on proportions".

"Post your work" during an argument already means they're /beg/s. Imagine talking about mathematics and you argue that a theorem is incorrect and provide an explanation, and the other guy says "h-hey link me to your publishings, I'm not sure if I should take you seriously" instead of just replying to your argument because he understands what you're saying. In general if you are sure about what you are saying and you are making an argument in favor of something, the other person shouldn't need to ask for validating information to make sure if you're right or not. If he's not a retarded dunning-kruger himself he'll be able to tell. The issue with this board is that everyone is a retarded /beg/ whose judgement is clouded by semen so nobody can tell, therefore PYW.

Excuse me, then. I thought this board was obsessed with the girth of artistic dicks, which is measured by rather objective standards despite differences in style and genre. The issue is not that art skills are subjective, it's the clouded judgment of people.

You want /ic/ to be something it's not. Go somewhere else if you want to see who's giving you feedback

>> No.5071053

>>5069668
It's purely so they don't have to actually attack a user's argument and can instead use ad hominem. Even if you don't post your work, they'll use you not posting your work as an excuse to ignore what you're saying, but by posting your work literally all you're doing is giving the person you're talking to a cornucopia of reasons to disregard your advice or criticism, no matter how good your drawing is.

In a perfect world one would give critique and post their own work and the other would reply with thanks and critique the just posted work.

The problem is that some theories can sound very convincing and still be complete and utter bullshit. When you add dunning-kruger syndrome to the mix you can get very misleading advice.

I'm not saying "pyw" is always justified (as a response to criticism it's not).
But I am saying that if you've written a wall of text about how to git gud and you're trying to convince others then you should have something to show for it. A proof, evidence that something works will always be better, more believable than just a theory.
