They surround themselves with shit artwork.
examples are anime, any twitter artist, and they think the pinnacle of art are made by teachers like vilppu, loomis, bridgeman, etc.

Following the advice pros give.

eg no tracing.

All the pros learned by tracing. Nobody learned from reading loomis.

also bs, few pros are strictly anti tracing, most are however against tracing other artwork. almost none are against heavy references, most encourage you too. stop imposaning your biased opinion on ithers, it's simply not true

>>5048592
depends on what you want to draw. if you want to draw in that style, of course you want to copy a lot of japanese artists. there is nothing wrong with drawing anime. it doesn't replace your fundamental studies ofc

Doing infinite studies for the sake of studies.
You should spend as much time doing studies as you spend working on serious pieces you intend to finish. Otherwise you're not studying for anything, you're not giving closure to the different body parts or textures you memorized by applying them "for real" on something.

drawing too much (until you burn out/suffer from health/sleep issues)
not drawing enough
thinking there is a magical book or course will teach you how to draw for sure
never reading/watching books/courses/guides
always studying, never doing original drawings
doing only original drawings, never studying
thinking fancy brushes will make your drawings better
thinking brushes don't matter
thinking tracing will teach you how to draw
thinking tracing is inherently bad

Caring too much for each individual study and putting their identity on the line for the perceived quality of each individual study.

Quantity of consistent training is the key, not quality. Ask your work to be corrected. Ask your to redlines. Erase it and do it correctly.

This. Teachers are great, but they should be a starting point toward what you actually want to draw (unless you're looking to be a teacher, but you'll also have to learn a shit ton beyond them)
