IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the Drawthread with our fundamental exercises.

POST DRAWINGS YOU NEED HELP WITH

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:

1.-screenshot the image and post that instead

2.-change camera capture settings to something smaller

3.-send to computer and resize in picresize.com

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uwaXKU7ev6Tw_or__o8ARpUb6r2rCZYJGqwSFV9AD98/edit#bookmark=id.15jx3pyuimvj

Take your time, you can do it.

An orthographic view would be the 2D representation of a 3D object i.e. direct front, above or side view. What you're doing is an isometric view, which is often paired with orthographic, though. To solve this, just grind some perspective then apply it to your drawings.

heey buddy, i like that you're trying to draw full bodies even though you're shitty at it. here's a redline
some notes: don't draw the other ear when you're drawing the head in 3/4 perspective
draw the entire body and pose using boxes, then add details later. this should be easy if you learn to draw perspective with boxes
the hands are super complicated, and you should direct some time into learning to draw them separately like you would to learn to draw hair, eyes, and clothing wrinkles. i'm still shitty at drawing hands

I hardly doubt it's the subject matter or the size of the words. I'll try to be more straightforward the next time I call someone such names.

I’m pretty sure he’s been told loomis as well which refers to fun with a pencil, it’s important to take the practice seriously. I don’t have anything else to say other than “construct what you draw” that’s all there is to it. I can’t say stop drawing the cartoon faces because I literally do the same and I’m not even good at it either
I even have a friend who’s been claiming they really want to get good at drawing for a year now and they haven’t drawn anything, I’ve given them so much material and tips and it never amounted to anything. Alright
I read all the critique I got last thread
I read a bit through loomis to refresh
I tried to read Bargue, got intimidated and decided to dedicate time in the future to read that
Took a bath
and tried to draw a head again.
Decided to just do the simplest head, a front view, Was gonna make guidelines for features, found a convenient picture and used that, drew for about an hour and half...
and I turned a women into a man. Fuck me. I tried to look at my reference more then my drawing, but I guess something slipped past my eyes.
Atleast it looks better then the smiling girl from before. I actually learned how eyes actually function a bit I kept drawing them as if the sclera extended outside of the eyelid, which is what make them look really wide and weird.
Ears arent right though, its not a perfect copy also. But atleast my head doesnt hurt anymore and I see progress.
I also tried to do contour lines, but I know I fucked that up. I need to see a wire mesh of the head to properly understand how the eye sockets work and how the nose works. I know the head is angled a bit to a point with the nose but I still need to study how to translate that.
Only problem Ive having now is this paradox
>I dont want to draw realism, I wanna draw stupid cartoons and goofy doodles for fun and for praise/likes/yous because Im egotistic
>I understand I need to learn realism to understand how to stylize properly
>So I dont enjoy what Im drawing, even If its helping me
Not sure what to do about that because suck it up and keep working

do both cartoons and realism. Spend an hour or two copying real images, and the rest of your time doing fun cartoons. If your study is incorrect, lay it over the ref to see where you're wrong.
You can skip over the vast majority of the intro text of bargue - just copy the images as accurately as possible. Do as much bargue as you can for a month or two.
You're interpreting the contours incorrectly. To get a better sense for that, try pic related exercise every day to warm up.

Yeah I saw from last thread. Judging from the rest of the photo her hips are facing mostly forward and not upwards, so the vag should still be at the bottom. I know you tried to follow that diamond shaped seam thingy, but it moves up a lot in poses like these, so it’s actually a very inaccurate indication of where things are. Her butt also shouldn’t be sticking together, it just looks like that because the pants flow over everything and makes it look round. You art is very appealing, just wanted to make sure you’re not getting bogged down by bad refs <3

measure ANGLES. that's why it looks like a man, look at angles of the sides of the face and compare them to your drawing

additionally the contour lines near the top of the head are wrong and you should go and study perspective too

I posted earlier in this thread. >>5016304 I did some sort of copy drawings using references from a porn game I like. Do you guys think I am on the right track here?

Another noob question that I probably should have sorted out but in this post >>5016599 you talk about Bargue and without any googling going off of just what you say, it's about being able to measure angles to properly copy images, which sounds good and please don't shit on me for such a noob take here, but:
1. Can you improve your angle measurement to the point that it becomes natural and you don't have to focus on it one when copying an image?
2. does it help with things that aren't copying images?

I ask because these drawings I did are WAY not accurate to the reference image and while I did a bit of angle measurement I didn't focus on it a ton. Is that something I should be focusing on and how can that apply to drawings I want to do from imagination?
I always appreciate your guys help.

Don't want to be the guy that has to ask, but feedback on any of these would be appreciated. Half of them were no effort and the others were. I figure the problems with line confidence are only solved by actively striking the page over hours and hours of intentional practice. I just read through this book and I think it was pretty helpful in some places. I think it's one I'll have to go back through and really do a bunch of copying and such. So really I suppose asking for feedback on any of these would be premature because it's not really the result of me struggling with the material for very long. There's probably a lot I should discover on my own first. But in reality I probably just want to shitpost more than I want to draw.

it doesn't have to be first. you just have to do it to force yourself to think about what's happening on the hidden side, otherwise things flap out into view when they shouldn't.
if you flatten one side of a ball and pull a jawline out of some spot, then you have to flatten the other side and put the jaw back in the same spot.

Drawing has been a good coping tool for political turmoil and a pandemic that has killed more than a million globally. I still don’t know whether I failed the bar exam again. >>5017042
Yeah that’s fine, just make sure to pay attention to how the clothes fit over the body when you’re drawing it. You can make the clothing various lengths, I just see people draw short schoolgirl skirts a lot so I thought you might have wanted to do the same. Although in your pic the end of the sweater was around the crotch area which would have been very low for a skirt waistband. But it looks like it could originate from higher, so it doesn’t seem too off. Another note, for your perspective the curve of the skirt should be a bit less pronounced. For the thigh socks the curve should be more pronounced. Even for small sketches make sure to follow the form or it will look uncomfortably flat. Your sweater puff folds look fine but the arm folds need some work. Anyway logging off for the night, see ya tomorrow

>>5018022
I've played the original base game and Royal. It is if you didn't 100% the original game. If you did everything in the original, it's not worth buying because despite the last chapter being kino, it's not worth replaying the base game

Ah I see. Also it’s a comm so it wasn’t exactly my choice anyway, I think I liked makoto the most until the fat guy ntr doujin inducing scene so I ended up being an annebro. I like blondes a lot anyway

Shame, Makoto is the best and I simply don't indulge in NTR

Better than before but still you need to work on the face. Look at her lips and compare it to yours. The face is curved but you drew it flat. Also just overlay your drawing with the picture so you can see the mistakes and try to fix it.

Thanks. Ive been having a lot problems with making the face actually curve and not be flat for a while now. Ive been doing loomis and trying to understand and break the issue.

It seems like your making honest attempts to draw what you see sometimes, like with the lips i can see the attempt, but then its still kinda halfassed with even some segments being completely phoned in, like with the back of the neck.

In the reference the neck is comprised of two distinctly different angled and sized lines. The bottom line is longer then the top and points up to her eye somewhere but then your neck it's just one almost straight line. Same with the cheek. In the reference it curves a bit at the top of the cheek, just below the nose, but then its almost entirely straight down to the point of her chin but with you it's just a generic curve not resembling what's in the reference at all.

Id say just try to focus more on being deliberate with your lines. Cross compare the angles, sizes, and positions of each stoke and don't go into autopilot where you phone in a line cause it vaguely matches.

Ill try this for next time, thanks. I think the autopilot stuff is a good explanation for why those lines go off. I always zone out while drawing

How long does it actually take to learn to copy images right? Is there anyone here who started from absolute zero learning to draw as an adult that can do it well now?

i don't think it would take too long, maybe a month or two. If you just measure carefully then you can basically just connect the dots and copy
