IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the Drawthread with our fundamental exercises.

POST DRAWINGS YOU NEED HELP WITH

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:

1.-screenshot the image and post that instead

2.-change camera capture settings to something smaller

3.-send to computer and resize in picresize.com

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uwaXKU7ev6Tw_or__o8ARpUb6r2rCZYJGqwSFV9AD98/edit#bookmark=id.15jx3pyuimvj

Take your time, you can do it.

This Is my first attempt at painting, used Simon Bisley art as a reference for colors. The face looks pretty bad but I can't tell why, maybe the eyes? Also can I also get a critique on the colors choiche since I picked them from Bisley paintings and applied them to mine? Also will probably use Yusuke Nakano art for reference as well next time

(Repost due to dying thread)

Just posting my daily figure drawing out of ritual by now I guess.
I started this when I was kindly told by anon I am unable to capture a natural-looking pose. I think I'm slowly learning how to do that and that it's time to add some variety in my studying.
Before going deep into human anatomy, I'm thinking I'll take a small detour in fabrics just to clear my head of all the muscles... but perhaps it would pay to go to in-depth anatomy now that I have figure drawing in my head fresh? Or does it not matter?

When learning loomis heads, is there a trick to finding the center line? I've been doing some back studies recently and I'm wondering if anyone has any advice/decent material for me to study from.
Some of the landmarks on the back like the shoulder blade can be a bit obvious, but I still mess that up along with other pieces. Are there any tips that can help me here? I find the front much, much easier, but I think that's similar for a lot of people. The anatomy's just more obvious.
Oh, and my linework is crap too. I've been improving it lately, and I'd be afraid to show what it used to be, but I'm struggling a bit to make it better. Are my lines too thick? Should I stop going over them again to darken them for emphasis?
Honestly, a lot of it sucks, especially the heads. I've been neglecting studying the face and putting it off later this month.

Yeah, learning is different for everyone, but I have to say figure drawing can help immensely with your skills if you stick to it, even if you don't render. For example, for me, figure drawing has helped me with understanding construction and how one form comes out of / enters another... I can't explain it well because it doesn't happen consciously, almost as if by magic through repetition, but I'd def recommend it as an exercise imo

I actually quite like drawing backgrounds, no idea why I was avoiding them so long.

i've been drawing for some months one hour a day, not trying to make it or anything just trying to be better personally. I usually do some figure drawing and i draw faces, all with references. Sometimes i use quickposes sometimes i use movie stills. I've seen the steve huston beginner head construction and beginner figure drawing. I do think that i will see at least one more time each. But i wanna know if you guys think that i'm using my time wisely you know drawing faces and figures from references or if i should do something instead. Thanks

Maybe try and analyse how anime features usually look. For example you might think you can draw any two lines for eyes but there's particular shapes they tend to be, depending on the style you're going for.
I'm pretty beg myself but I was autistic enough to do this as a teenager, I tried to learn a few art styles from different anime. Traced over it to get the shapes and would try and draw other things in the same style. I just made this now though, think I lost all those notes but it was this kind of thing.

How the hell do I make these better? Do I just "keep drawing" until I get it? What do I have to focus on? I dont want to draw hyper realistic, just semi or cartoonish, but I still want it look presentable and now like this. With big moe girl anime eyes the iris and pupil are often (not always) drawn like a concave cone.
This isn't accurate to life, in fact it's the opposite of how real eyes work, but it makes them look extra glassy in a 3/4 view. I believe it may be how glass doll eyes work though I'm not super familiar. In both cases there's distortion from the lens that makes it kind of hard to tell what's really going on.
I'll use Chitanda here as I was obsessed with Hyouka when I did this kind of thing.
It's fun actually. I should do some real anatomy study.
